Re: 'The Secret History of Twin Peaks' novel by M. Frost 10/18

That is good, and relieving news that it isn't just a last minute decision to split the book or anything. Keep in mind too that's Frost is a pretty prolific writer; he could've always been intending to do another Peaks novel and in the process of putting some pieces together; maybe this reception ju...

Re: 'The Secret History of Twin Peaks' novel by M. Frost 10/18

I do think some's disappointment is completely fair. The original press release (IIRC) did specify that it would fill in the gaps leading up to the new series. Which, as said, is far different than FWWM getting announced as a prequel and being disappointed (which I also don't hold against people; wh...

Re: The Supernatural, Silva and the Season 2 Problem

For what it's worth, I think Denise is a better character, or at least a more important one, if just because crossdressing was pretty tastefully handled for 1990 (which is why the Tojamura stuff sticks out as especially tone deaf). My only major issue with Episode 16 is the really really weak final ...

Re: The Supernatural, Silva and the Season 2 Problem

I've often found the best way to really see throw any clouds of nostalgia or personal interest in regard to media is to sit and watch it with someone who has never seen it before. A friend of mine had just finished Season 1, and we sat and watched the Season 2 premiere, and even at that point she wa...

Re: Recommendations for Watching While Waiting for Season 3

By coincidence, I tuned in for the hotel episode. It was so uncanny see Theroux seemingly reprise his role in MD (more the situation than the character), combined with the "resort" dream of Tony Soprano. Of all the episodes to stumble across! And for what it's worth, that's actually one o...

Re: 'The Secret History of Twin Peaks' novel by M. Frost 10/18

...and it's just the tip of the merchandising iceberg. It's going to be a very expensive 2017. I also have the Blu-ray of the original series/FWWM on pre-order (simply because the $100+ CAD 'Entire Mystery' boxset is a bit too rich for my blood, as I already have DVD copies of the series + FWWM). H...

Re: 'The Secret History of Twin Peaks' novel by M. Frost 10/18

Powell's Books will deliver a signed copy to your front door! http://tinyurl.com/j7yt9se Agh, this is so so tempting. Apparently they deliver to Canada. But, can I justify the premium, since I already have an Amazon pre-order for the book as well as the audio CD. And then if it's signed, I wouldn't...

Re: Recommendations for Watching While Waiting for Season 3

I didn't read all the posts, but, has anyone recommended the Leftovers yet? One of the most underrated shows on television right now (well, perhaps underviewed, rather than underrated), and it stars Justin Theroux (from Mulholland Drive/Inland Empire). He's absolutely fantastic in it (and has made m...

Re: 'The Secret History of Twin Peaks' novel by M. Frost 10/18

Great news! As for Hank, I hope he's simply irrelevant to the new series (like, according to reports, Catherine, who isn't in because they didn't know how to write her in?). And I'm thrilled that they cared to get old actors who won't be in the series! This will be a wonderful goodbye to their char...

Re: 'The Secret History of Twin Peaks' novel by M. Frost 10/18

I have been wondering if there is going to be an overall narrative accompanying the dossier or just the pieces of evidence themselves, like we saw in the trailer? Maybe the audio version will just cover the accompanying narrative? So many possibilities with this news (and book)... Could be. They co...

Re: 'The Secret History of Twin Peaks' novel by M. Frost 10/18

Sigh. It looks like I also have to buy the book *and* the CD. Haha, an annoying thing to be bummed about. It does make me wonder though .. from what we've seen of the the novel, it's very mixed media. How exactly does that translate to audio CD? Like, for instance, that one invoice for a truck. It s...

Re: Possible SPOILERS: S3 casting & returning actors/charact

So. Many. Musicians. I'm so overjoyed to see Sharon Van Etten in that list. She's the last name I'd ever expect, but she's one of my top three musicians right now. Glad to see her getting such exposure! (I'm actually surprised at Lykke Li not being in it, with how much her and Lynch have collaborat...

Re: 'The Secret History of Twin Peaks' novel by M. Frost 10/

I'm not sure why people are worried about spoilers. It's an official release. Mark Frost is also all about keeping the mystery alive, so, I'm sure he and Lynch both feel that the book being released before the show is ideal and that it can be read before the new season. I mean, didn't The Diary of L...

Re: 'The Secret Lives of Twin Peaks' new novel by M. Frost 2

Is that possibly some artwork/cover art from the book Jerry? Because, if so, that looks fantastic. Very in keeping, stylistically, with The Entire Mystery box art (just the texture and tone to it)

Re: 'The Secret Lives of Twin Peaks' new novel by M. Frost 2

A positive of that format, and I wouldn't be shocked if it's part of the reason it took such a shape, is that characters can easily be slotted in or out of the book. Maybe characters who are now unavailable for the series will instead get some form of due via the 'collage'. I just hope it's still qu...
