Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
i'm at the point where i'm able to call myself a twin peaks fan while disregarding season 3 completely. i really sympathize with everyone who's been negatively affected by its meta-cruelty, but i also want to try and respect the genuine fans for whom it's a meisterwerk. i think it's possible for bot...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
Do any of the disappointed left in this thread feel that it's all done and gone now, all over? Literally it is but for me the first two series stood in high stead in my mind for 25 years and only grew in stature over the years. We're a few weeks after the last episode aired and it's already a footn...

Re: FINAL POLL!!!!!!! Your Reaction to The Return as a Complete Work
heavily mixed, leaning towards dislike.
the premiere (1/2), most of 3 and 4, and parts throughout 5-11 were good. episodes 12-15 got pretty bad/unwatchable. 16 was okay. hated the finale.
if another season of this gets made, some more writers couldn't hurt... just saying.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
TR totally punctured through to TP. It expanded on the pilot and changed the very essence of TP as a scripted drama watched by tens of millions of peeps. For better or worse imo, maybe a little bit of both!

Re: So is there anyone else who prefers The Return to the original?
They're really too different to properly compare. The Return lost me pretty quickly during its airing; I think I stopped caring before it was halfway over; but there were moments throughout that topped and even transcended the original. Again, I don't think it's right to compare the two. I'll probab...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
Question for the profoundly disappointed: Would you have preferred an alternate scenario for the revival that was more akin to the current iteration of the Star Wars franchise, where a media company basically purchases the rights to the franchise and hires filmmakers who were fans of the original t...

Re: Season 3 was incredibly mean-spirited (spoilers)
Back on topic, the cynicism in season three has to have come from Lynch's hatred of season two. I just think Lynch's idea of Twin Peaks was vastly different than ours. This was his way of making it entirely his own creation again.

Inland Empire was a critical success.

It also grossed $4 million worldwide.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
Is there any way to salvage the original show after this? I don't want to think about Diane being raped or having awkward sex with Coop every time he brings out his tape recorder. I don't want to remember that all of seasons one and two get erased from existence because Coop inexplicably goes back i...

Doesn't matter, I won't watch it either way. If the fans want it, cool, but count me out.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
Much about The Return is undoubtedly unique. Uniquely bad, uniquely contemptuous, uniquely ambitious, take your pick. As others have been saying, and for the reasons detailed throughout this thread, it really is one of the worst dramas ever aired. The clinchers were the random “resolution” of the D...
