Re: Parts 3 + 4 (SPOILERS)

Just realized that Brian Finney (who played the trucker Laura gives head to in TMP) is the Silver Mustang guard who directs Coop to the cashier and phones. Probably just a random piece of double-dip casting because DKL liked an actor, but the relationship between his roles in Laura and Cooper's resp...

Re: Parts 3 + 4 (SPOILERS)

Geeky OCD credits question! So, Sheryl has been credited in every Part despite only having new material in Part 2. Part 1 has the reused Episode 29 footage, Part 4 has the old homecoming photo featured prominently. As far as I can tell, she doesn't appear at all in Part 3, aside from her superimpose...

Re: Parts 3 + 4 (SPOILERS)

I don't particularly get "Albert" from the motel "phone call," although I can see why some people do. The voice appears higher and the intonations wrong -- although it's tough to tell with the voice quality altered and distorted. It sounds more like Mark Frost to me!

Re: Wally Brando Appreciation Society (SPOILERS)

My issue with the scene is that it's a more overt on-the-nose parody than anything else we've seen in TP, going far beyond the winking nods of the original show. And of course Brando parodies are a dime a dozen. But credit where credit is due: Cera nails it, seemingly channeling Brando rather than d...

Definitely think we're gonna see a lot of RR. Reversed electrical currents leading to something being "wrong" in the universe. Coop's being reborn as a newborn/blank slate parallels Ronnie after his accident.

Re: References in the Return to Lynch's Non-TP Works (SPOILERS)

... Yes! The Eraserhead tree was my first thought upon seeing the "evolution of the Arm," especially given its history with decapitation. And of course the mushroom cloud in Gordon's office echoes the one in Henry's room. Someone also noted that Gordon has a portrait of Kafka in his offic...

Re: Theories & Speculation (SPOILERS)

Coop's "Packard Case" document in TSHoTP is dated 3/15 (despite this not gelling at all with the series timeline).

3/15 on the series was (by some estimates) Episode 17, the first episode after the post-Leland death time-jump. (Some timelines place Episode 18 on 3/15.)

Re: References in the Return to Lynch's Non-TP Works (SPOILERS)

Dougie's soul/existence becoming a gold orb, in addition to the Episode 8 parallel, reminds me of the ending of Ronnie Rocket, where Ronnie seems to undergo a similar fate (with the immortal stage direction, "Ronnie is a golden egg.")

Re: S3: Make Your Peace Now with the Ending You Dread (SPOILERS)

I'm pretty much fine with anything DKL does, he hasn't let me down yet. However, I am sort of hoping it's not the Wizard of Oz tribute that one website was theorizing. DKL loves that movie, I do too, but it's a cliché. The Wizard of Oz stuff in W@H is the weakest part of the movie for me, would pref...

Re: Parts 3 + 4 (SPOILERS)

People have compared zombie-Coop to Leostein, but I haven't seen anyone note that DougieCoop does in fact get "new shoes." Why is the real Coop bring referred to as DougieCoop? I keep seeing this. Surely Dougie was sucked into the Lodge and the real Coop replaced him? I agree that i...

People have compared zombie-Coop to Leostein, but I haven't seen anyone note that DougieCoop does in fact get "new shoes." I can't believe that anyone could dislike the "mother's hat" line. This is something DKL has been doing forever: cutting a scene on a non sequitir line...

Yeh, while I initially didn't love the "oh, you're nice and wet" line, it struck me as a VERY Frank Booth thing to say.

References in the Return to Lynch's Non-TP Works (SPOILERS)

Thought this would be a fun thread to start. People have caught many references/parallels (some intentional, some probably less so) to DKL's other works in the show thus far. Back in 2006, people saw IE as a sort of grand summing-up of the man's entire career. With an 18-hour canvas to paint on, it ...

Re: Theories & Speculation (SPOILERS)

I just finished Part 2 on my first rewatch: I wonder if the Duncan Todd (Patrick Fischler) "she's got the job" scene (which is similar to MD, as other have noted) refers to "Janey-E"/Naomi Watts being hired to play Dougie Jones's wife. This would certainly have multiple layers o...
