Re: Episode 1

Episode 1 actually consistently fascinates me in these last few months, especially with my most recent rewatches (until the revival announcement I hadn't gone through the whole show in a number of years). As I think Audrey has said, it's where you can see the show shaping up into understanding what ...

Re: What about Harry? (FIGUREHEAD)

Since you apparently don't want casting spoilers let's just say I doubt he's uninvolved with the new series.

I also recall a recent interview about this short which did not suggest a cold relationship with Lynch. I think he's just skewering himself and Hollywood.

Re: Questions on Lodges and Bob possession vs. Doppelgangers

All of that said, I’d say that the lodge spirits (not the doppelgängers) are perhaps parasites who’ve invaded and used the preexisting Black Lodge for their own ends. It’s possible they could be defeated and banished, but I believe that the lodge and doppelgängers would remain. That's a very good t...

Re: How will the new Twin Peaks be received?

I think we already have a fourth season, if this goes beyond 7-13 episodes. Anywhere in that range or beyond and they can split it between two years at least. True Detective was, what, 7 or 8?

Re: Episode 10

I think the friction between Frost's (and Peyton's) dense wordplay, mythology and at times outsize characters and machinations and Lynch's more instinctive, primal and often abstracted dream logic is really what makes the show run. Does it always work? No. Characters like Dick, who I enjoy, do a lit...

Re: The Cliffhanger, evil Coop/good Coop. POTENTIAL SPOILERS

Oh, I didn't hate the idea, I'm just curious as to its genesis. It definitely could've gone either way - and one would assume it's ultimately a stopover to Cooper resuming his destiny as a detective.

Re: The Cliffhanger, evil Coop/good Coop. POTENTIAL SPOILERS

I do have to wonder whose idea it was for Cooper to become a pharmacist. Whether it was Frost and Lynch or one of the B-team, Peyton and Engels. Peyton and Engels often did superb work, even in the 'bad' episodes, but when left to their own devices could sometimes come up with weird shit for the sak...

I think I have the old Season 1 boxset in my dad's basement back home. I was just thinking of those the other day - I'd love to hear them.

Re: Possible SPOILERS: S3 casting & returning actors/charact

I think it's natural. I don't want everyone to have a kid like it's 90210: The Next Generation, but I think some can and should.

I also want to see Harriet Hayward again and I don't care how unlikely that is. Sylvia, Heidi, Johnny and Toad are back!

Re: Worthiest Missing Piece?

Oh, I agree he has it. If he didn't he wouldn't be working the Blue Rose cases. But I think there's something a little too conveniently masculine and aggressive about Desmond to know how to face down the spirit world. I think him in Twin Peaks, working with Harry, experiencing the town and its inhab...

Re: Worthiest Missing Piece?

I love Chris Isaak's performance because he is so aloof, cool, slick and yes, at times wooden. Chet Desmond is the classical squarejawed FBI hero, and he gets taken away by the Lodge like it's nothing. It's debatable how Lynch may see him, too - I know Lost's video essay posits him as "kind of ...

Re: Worthiest Missing Piece?

All this talk of the continuity and condensing of Laura's last week reminds me - when was the picnic with Donna and James supposed to be? I wonder if it was ever even considered or drafted or if they just said 'fuck it'. I don't mind the film's rather loose approach to some of that continuity, but i...

Re: Possible SPOILERS: S3 casting & returning actors/charact

Like I said a few weeks ago, youth (and beautiful/questing/tortured youth) was always an essential part of TP. I think it should still be, but more than that, I just love the idea of the town as a living, changing, growing place. You can't do that without exploring the new generation, which excites ...
