Re: NON SPOILERS: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Showtime Thread

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but here's a pic of me with my going away present today. me and Ray.jpg He's in Season 3 so hopefully it counts. -Mordeen Wow, great pic. Where did you get to meet Ray? Taken at my house during our going away party on 6/10. They're family friends dating...

Re: Theories & Speculation (SPOILERS)

I'm not a fan of the Windom Earle = DoppleCoop theory. The reason is that it's much more interesting for DoppleCoop to be a dark version of Cooper. Obviously (lol) Bob did something with Earle's soul. He may have consumed it or perhaps he used it to manufacture the Doppleganger; however, I'd rather...

Re: Part 5 - Case files (SPOILERS)

Hey, is anyone else thinking of the Fates for the Pink Ladies? One looks to the left, one to the right and the middle on straight ahead. TSHOTP says one of the two races of lodge spirits is "The Nordic Race" which could liken them to the Norns, and the Venus statue in the Red Room and the...

Re: RE: Re: Tamara Preston - Chrysta Bell (Spoilers)

Eh, I think that's just a narrative device. It prevents her from "spoiling" the book for the reader. There's a lot of creative choices Mark Frost made in that book that seems to puzzle fans. (Like whether or not the continuity errors are intentional or the result of a quick publisher turn...

Re: RE: Re: Tamara Preston - Chrysta Bell (Spoilers)

I just don't understand the people who act like Preston came across as some super-competent / brilliant agent in the book. She didn't do any detective work at all! Agreed. It's been a while since I've read the book, but I remember thinking she added almost zero insight Given the format of the book ...

Re: what is canon to you and why?

What about Between Two Worlds? I'm taking it as canon - Lynch & Frost must've been a fair way through writing the new series when BTW was put together. Knew I was forgetting something critical! This occupies the same space as the Log Lady intros for me. I don't believe that acclaimed director D...

Re: what is canon to you and why?

For me, the old and new series and FWWM are definitive canon. TMP is as well, except where it directly contradicts the series/FWWM (aside from the use of alternate takes of the same moments, the main thing that springs to mind is the Jeffries scene taking place in 1989, when the final FWWM edit retc...

Re: Theories & Speculation (SPOILERS)

The statue is dedicated to Hardesty "The FBI Story" Wait, are you saying there's a dedication on the statue that actually says this? Or just inferring that the costume/pose are similar to the poster? If the former, that would be a strong argument for Dougie-land being a construction to co...

Re: Theories & Speculation (SPOILERS)

Wasn't the jumping point simply the 25 years later line delivered by Laura. Sure I read Frost/Lynch saying it was the catalyst for them to have dinner, and see if there were more stories in the TP universe. I sure hope that wasn't it. That may have been the initial impetus to make them brainstorm, ...

Re: References in the Return to Lynch's Non-TP Works (SPOILERS)

The characters played by Belushi and Knepper are basically (lazily) the Castigliani brothers again. The multiple shots of where a phone is ringing before we find out are pretty much from the same movie. I don't know I saw them more as a nastier, more violent version of the Horne brothers, especiall...

Re: NON SPOILERS: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Showtime Thread

So because the show is baked, we can't want or expect it to be successful so that more people enjoy what we love for 25 years? FWWM was a box office dud, but it is being talked about 25 years later and is probably more popular than ever. I think even before the new series was announced and people r...

Not sure how stereotypical they're planning to get with the "Hawk's heritage" thing (and a bit worried to find out), but several Native American tribes are in the casino business. Vegas connectIon?

Re: Theories & Speculation (SPOILERS)

My guess based on what we've seen is the "jumping point" is Coop as a middle-aged man re-entering the world as a blank slate and having to rediscover/reinvent himself. DKL said in EW that this is what the season is about (entering the world as an innocent and finding your likes and dislike...

Re: Part 5 - Case files (SPOILERS)

I like using the descriptors as "subtitles," as it were. Unlike the regrettable German titles, these feel like a distinctly L/F touch, as with everything else about the show's promotion.
