Re: Part 10 - Laura is the one (SPOILERS)
"Violence against women" ON FILM should be the key term here. So every thing we say about the series should end with "...ON FILM"? What is the point of that exactly? I think the context is clear, this is dugpa.com. Tell that to Jerry Falwells and Roger Eberts of our critical aca...

Re: Part 10 - Laura is the one (SPOILERS)
but I wonder if his fascination with the subject hasn't led to some lack of imagination this season about how women might be portrayed independently from violence, or how a darkness far expanded from the original scope of the series might be portrayed in other ways. Can't speak for him, but I feel ...

Re: Part 10 - Laura is the one (SPOILERS)
Yes, Sarah Jean Long was credited for playing the character "Miriam Sullivan" in parts 6 and 10. The letter that Deputy Chad Broxford intercepts is from a "Miriam Hodges" (also of Twin Peaks) ... not the same Miriam. Note the zip code: 98705 or 98725 leads to ... Zacatecas, Mexi...

Re: "This is the water, and this is the well..." poem (Spoilers)
I think the water and well are our world. The Woodsman is invoking his brethren to descend and drink of our pain and suffering. That would seem more right if it was "descend and drink full", but it's the other way around. It's 'drink full and descend', but I don't think the wording makes ...

Re: What we learned about the Twin Peaks mythology in part 8 (SPOILERS)
That would go against the concept of free will, both in practical and metaphysical terms. By giving clues the Giant is offering a path to take, but he's not forcing Coop to take it by giving away the right choice to make. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk I don't see why it takes away free will to s...

Re: What we learned about the Twin Peaks mythology in part 8 (SPOILERS)
Generally the Giant seems like a benevolent figure, but, no matter what they say now, if he knew Leland was Bob (and I think he did), he is complicit at least in Maddie's murder, if not Laura's and Teresa's. "It is happening again" - WHAT IS? mr giant? what is? Tell me so I can do somethi...

Re: Viewer reaction is the same as it was back then
I would say the original show was much simpler and more accessible than the new one. So, if the reaction is the same, audiences have changed. This new show has a ridiculous number of plot threads (sometimes just a single scene), the original series was nowhere near that: everything took place in Twi...

No. I think when it is a problem is when that is the _only_ reason for a particular story/character choice.WhiteLodge90 wrote:I hate the term fanservice. Especially in regards to this show. Just because a group of people want something does not make it lesser of value and a cheapened low form of storytelling.
