Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this? Wisteria/Unrecorded Night? Something else? (Speculation thread.)

Alright guys and gals —

I did some digging and confirmed today via another 100% source verifying what I was told firsthand a year ago. TP is not on the radar at Showtime and has not been. Not sure what that rumbling is, but it’s not TP.

Take it or leave it, and have a great day!

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this? Wisteria/Unrecorded Night? Something else? (Speculation thread.)

In a world of endless sequels, revivals, reboots, remakes, etc., if David Lynch wanted to make a new season of Twin Peaks , would there truly be any chance that he could be stopped because of lack of interest of other involved parties? Or any other reason whatsoever? $$, creative control — lots of ...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this? Wisteria/Unrecorded Night? Something else? (Speculation thread.)

All I’m saying is, it’s easy to argue what might could be as opposed to fact, which we have very, very little of. I admire the persistent positivity, even if I see little reasoning in it. At least in regard to a fourth season. I feel like we’ve all been having the same convo for the past year. What ...

What if the listings were made in error to begin with? I mean, it feels to me that most all Unrecorded Night/Wisteria/etc has been primarily fueled by online speculation and hype and very little (if any) concrete info. From my point of view at least.

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this? Wisteria/Unrecorded Night? Something else? (Speculation thread.)

Taking a step back, how do we know there was a real Netflix deal that was inked? Or that it was ever close to production? Even Deming’s comment felt like it could be speculation, led off with the caveat “I think.” Showtime announced season three without any legal commitment from Lynch, after all. Ma...

I would continue to take rumors with a powder keg of salt.

Based on a convo from early ‘21 with one of the tippy toppy folks, one of the few that would really know, more TP would “take a miracle.” All I’m saying is to guard and protect your TP hearts. (Shooting the messenger optional.)

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this? Wisteria/Unrecorded Night? Something else? (Speculation thread.)

Well specifically I was referring to episode 8, Season 2 premiere. That's the episode that really piqued my interest in Twin Peaks, but also the one that was the beginning of the end ratings wise. I remember reading shortly after the series ended that the opening scene with the waiter and the Giant...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this? Wisteria/Unrecorded Night? Something else? (Speculation thread.)

I believe the original Twin Peaks was probably more commercially successful because of multiple directors, but it would likely have been a better show artistically had Lynch been able to direct all the episodes. So while I think the collaboration worked well on Twin Peaks, it was still less than id...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this? Wisteria/Unrecorded Night? Something else? (Speculation thread.)

There is a big difference between staff writers be brought in under the supervision of two showrunners - in order to meet a non-negotiable full season network schedule, in order to have financing to make anything at all, compared to suggesting that control be taking away from the artists and given ...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this? Wisteria/Unrecorded Night? Something else? (Speculation thread.)

"Twin Peaks" has always been a deconstructivist art project. For those that prefer hyper commercial IPs that are passed along from one work for hire director to another there are already lots of options to choose from at your local multiplex. As I understand it that conversation is suppos...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this? Wisteria/Unrecorded Night? Something else? (Speculation thread.)

More a general thought - the amount of absurdist humor in On the Air eclipses any point of Twin Peaks season 2. Like it or not, Lynch and Frost had rubber stamped outrageous shenanigans many a time during this era. It wasn't prevalent in s1 so much, but still, I do wonder what they found humorous at...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this? Wisteria/Unrecorded Night? Something else? (Speculation thread.)

Yeah, this is such an atypical franchise in the sense it's co-creators still (assumedly) own the IP. Typically someone pitches the idea and a network or studio owns it from the jump, at least from what I'm led to believe how it all works. Maybe after Lynch was burned by DeLaurentiis, and then the me...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this? Wisteria/Unrecorded Night? Something else? (Speculation thread.)

It really would be interesting to see the legal language surrounding the TP property. Who inherits it? Is someone legally entrusted with it in the event of Lynch and/or Frost not owning it? Is there legal language allowing its sale and or continuation? A whole lot of mystery. Another possibility is ...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this? Wisteria/Unrecorded Night? Something else? (Speculation thread.)

It's so funny to me how territorial and possessive and critical Lynch is towards other people's input on Twin Peaks, esp with season 2, and esp when he had more to do with it than he would ever like to admit (or remember). It's a very selective buffet. TP began as a TV show where the literal plan wa...

Re: For Those Who Were (Mostly) Disappointed with The Return

I sometimes conflate my frustration with season three along with my frustration in discussing some of the challenging parts of season three. Quite a few folks believe there is some gigantic code to be unlocked, and that every little aside means something to the whole. I do wonder if they can grasp a...
