Re: The Random Season 3 Thread
I have to throw my hat into the pile of loving the Roadhouse scenes. They feel very in line stylistically with IE, which has long been my favorite Lynch project. Without them S3 wouldn't have the fragmented mileu that it does.

Re: Blu-ray
Since we know the commentary track was recorded, I wonder if the hour-long interview with Lynch was also put on tape before the relationship between KL and DKL broke down? Was there ever any indication they had shot this themselves though? I assumed it was just an old video they would have attached...

Re: The Random Season 3 Thread
It's almost as though Lynch and Frost punished Wise for spilling the beans about the Return, or didn't trust him to keep the plot secret if he had a bigger part. While this might sound silly, and probably isn't true, his blink-and-miss-it appearance really was quite surprising. Did anyone expect Wi...

Re: Does Lynch have spiritual significance?
In terms of like, actual spiritual texts, I'm honestly more into things that come from the Frost side, like Theosophy, Kabbalah, demonology and alchemy. From the Lynch side I respond more to the sense of quantum instability that seems like a serious motif in his work, the idea of space (as in, the a...

Re: The Random Season 3 Thread
Could he possibly be referring to it being easy to bring back characters, because there's more freedom in odd plot points? I got the impression from the Blue Rose mag that he felt it should have been more like the original. And at cons, he refers to the whole thing as a "wish I had been in it m...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?
Right. That's more what I was saying. I was saying that, if anything, it's the Twin Peaks fans that are divided on it far more so than critics, filmmakers and lovers of cinema as an artform. I wouldn't say that this is something that is praised in the mainstream, and I never meant to imply that, ex...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?
Interesting thing LateReg notes about S 3 being more warmly received among the mainstream, casual viewership than diehard fans - gives me something to ponder... I think that's a broad generalization. I consider myself a TP diehard and I loved S3, but I'm also more of a Lynch fan overall. But it's n...

Re: The Random Twin Peaks Thread
Eek. I only just found out (from the Blue Rose mag) that the gazebo by the lake from the original show burned down recently. The ravages of time don't descriminate.Rainwater wrote:Apparently, the Twin Peaks High School is getting demolished.

Re: Three Days Later (between ep. 16 & 17)
Other than Sarah, does ANYONE have anything at all to say about Leland for the rest of the show? Ben makes one comment about his former lawyer being a homicidal lunatic but he speaks about it as if it's a business inconvenience and not a shocking revelation about someone he knew well and trusted. E...

Re: Blu-ray
I wonder if the people involved didn't want to put up the money it would take to remaster/mix to Lynch's high standard? I think this is the most likely case. It sounds like this release in general was very hands off with Lynch himself, if they were doing all of this second-hand presentation of extr...

Re: Season Two and More Vinyl 2019 RSD
Nabbed it. It's a very pretty! And it sounds great so far (though I'm only on side 1). The sticker on the shrinkwrap says it's limited to 9,000 copies so I don't think it'll be too hard to find if you really want it. Uh huh. In fact I would wait a few months so the price can drop by a third. The pi...

Re: Episode 2
That's a really interesting parallel! The thing with the differences between them is, largely, encoded in real world norms. The crime of the active perpetrator is much more clearly defined in terms of how one should feel towards the perpetrator, and as perpetrator how one should feel toward their ow...

Re: Blue Velvet (Criterion)
The advantage with Criterion is they can do fancy-schmancy new scans. The scan for the Wild at Heart BR by Shout is, I believe, the same scan as the Universal special edition DVD release, similar to Universal's last BV BR being the same scan as their most recent DVD release. At least Inland Empire h...

Re: New Website for Stills & Photoshoots
There is of course also the famed Tim & Tom’s Taxi-dermy shoot. Regarding that, you might be aware already, but in the Access guide there's a mock ad for their service with a photo of them in the Taxi. They're doing a thumbs up right at the viewer, so I always thought it was more of a behind-th...
