Re: Part 10 - Laura is the one (SPOILERS)

The choice you're positing here, it seems to me, isn't between discussing it with or without potentially politicized elements, it's between discussing all the issues it brings up or not discussing it at all. Not at all. The choice is between discussing art with a broader grid of analysis than gende...

Re: Part 10 - Laura is the one (SPOILERS)

Gender is being used as a cheap analyzing grid. Each time had its analytical paradigm : 40 years ago, most scholars in Europe and a good amount in the USA, analyzed every piece of art through the marxist grid. Everyone is entitled to it, obviously, but the only problem is that, most of the time, ar...

Re: Part 10 - Laura is the one (SPOILERS)

This conversation would have been contained to a handful of posts every few pages if people were comfortable just not engaging in discussions that don't interest them, by the way. Breadcrumbing for backwards shots or the plot-level significance of Andy's Rolex seem off the mark for me, so those pos...

Re: Season 3 Timeline (SPOILERS)

10.16 Albert and Candice have Dinner. Small correction: The woman Albert is on a date with is named Constance. Also, rewatching and thinking this one over, I think there might be a couple more scenes that take place on Day 10. It occurred to me that Miriam's letter would be quite unlikely to arrive...

Re: Part 10 - Laura is the one (SPOILERS)

And when a psycho comes knocking on your door, you'll see how easy it is to tense up and say the wrong thing. It doesn't make you stupid. Miriam is a heroine who was taking action against someone evil, and it led to her assault. We don't know if she's dead yet. Why wouldn't they have shown it? So h...

Re: Part 10 - Laura is the one (SPOILERS)

I do hope Janey-E isn't a construct or assigned; she's as heightened as the world she exists in, but a largely and charmingly human character. I'm definitely in the camp expecting her and Coop to remain together after he becomes more lucid. I'm with you here. I really hope Janey-E is a human unawar...

Re: Part 10 - Laura is the one (SPOILERS)

The brief sketch we've seen so far of Becky and Stephen's relationship is interesting. Obviously, there is a major theme of history repeating itself. Shelly has a strong intuition that something is very wrong but she has no idea how close Becky's situation is to her's with Leo. Remember, "Ever...

Re: Season 3 Timeline (SPOILERS)

I also lean towards the Twin Peaks scenes being on Day 9, mostly because otherwise it would mean Richard spent more than a day just relaxing prior to getting to work on covering up his hit-and-run. Agreed. That's the main reason I'd place it all on Day 9 (even though it calls into question which da...

Re: Season 3 Timeline (SPOILERS)

Okay, Part 10 had, by far, the wonkiest timeline of any of the Parts. It jumped between day and night several times but I'm fairly sure that all but one scene was a continuation of Day 9 (the same day/evening we saw begin in Part 9). We've seen a very small handful of scenes that fudged the otherwis...

Re: Part 10 - Laura is the one (SPOILERS)

Is there a chance that part 18 is twice the normal length? If not, we do not get anything near the 18 hours we were promised.... If it really adds up to 18 whole hours (a big if), then that extra time could be distributed among any or all of the eight remaining parts. That said, I'd love for 17 &am...

Re: Part 10 - Laura is the one (SPOILERS)

The violence against women was off the charts in this episode. I know that has been a criticism of Lynch's work, and being a fan of Twin Peaks and some of Lynch's other work, that's always been something difficult for me to reconcile. I realize this is just a tv show, but even the characters we car...

Re: Season 3 Timeline (SPOILERS)

The above is assuming the body/head was discovered 9/23 or 9/24, more likely 24 as It has to have time to start smelling for it to be reported and for it to develop lividity. So body/head discovered and Hastings arrested on same day?. It's not totally clear whether they arrested Bill the same day a...

But isn't it so odd that it's the sound of the beer can? Sound...in a David Lynch movie...I didn't notice it on first viewing like others did, but when I found out about I thought, there's no way that this most meticulous of sound designer directors missed that. I myself have been prone to nervousl...

Re: NON SPOILERS: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Showtime Thread

If we hear Showtime is funding another Lynch project, I think we'll have a pretty good indication that Showtime is happy with the results. Other Project of Lynch would be Twin Peaks season 4. If Lynch follow in showtime is to do a new season of twin peaks. I don´t see to Lynch doing other thing. Wh...

Re: Part 9 - This is the chair (SPOILERS)

- I'm extremely wary of the Hastings plotline now after previously being excited about it. I'll wait to see if there's a more to it than meets the eye before condemning it... I'm afraid I agree. While I enjoyed Lillard's performance, the reveal simply punctured the mystery for me. Too much was reve...
