Re: Parts 3 + 4 (SPOILERS)
It's so amazing and exciting that Lynch & Frost found a way to include characters, even though their actors have passed away or they weren't involved. I sure hope that Pete Martell will be somehow mentioned at some point. And others too. Lynch is nothing if not extremely loyal to his colleagues...

Re: Parts 3 + 4 (SPOILERS)
Maybe that's the answer, actually. Maybe they did intend to have Forster play Harry Truman, and they cast him, but then they were able to work out a small appearance from Ontkean and had to turn Forster into this new Frank Truman character?

Re: Parts 3 + 4 (SPOILERS)
As for the door still being open to a possible Ontkean appearance...it does seem the way they are describing him as sick, and not as having passed away, maybe in our dream of dreams it could still happen. But I am tampering my expectations on that. I'd rather assume it won't happen and be pleasantl...

Re: Parts 3 + 4 (SPOILERS)
Did Coop say "I need to be debriefed by you" twice? If so, this reminds me of Coop saying "I need to brush my teeth" twice. (Sort of obvious sorry) Yeah, it seems to me that, whenever Evil Coop is trying to pass himself off as Good Coop, he has a habit of repeating himself (even...

Re: Parts 1 + 2 (SPOILERS)
I've given up trying to figure out whether MIKE and the Man/Tree from Another Place are good or evil at this point, and am just going along for the ride. In the series, it was pretty clear that MIKE was a reformed bad guy, now on the side of good and dedicated to one purpose: to find BOB ('to STOP h...

Re: NON SPOILERS: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Showtime Thread
Last year, HBO Go/HBO Now was streaming Coppola's 'Godfather Saga', which is basically a 7-hour supercut of the first two Godfather films with the scenes arranged in complete chronological order (and with a ton of deleted scenes restored). Though I've seen both films many times before, it was a comp...

Re: Parts 1 + 2 (Spoilers)
I am wondering why Lynch chose to essentially do two cuts of the premiere? One cut for television that is two hours long with no break and another cut for streaming that separates it into two different hour long pieces complete with their own sets of credits. Essentially not a big deal but I am cur...

Re: NON SPOILERS: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Showtime Thread
Yeah, the structure makes it clear that this is a long film; parts don't really end with a significant hook to bring you back next week, but simply stop and go off to a pop song. I'm really interested to see whether the Blu-ray version will offer an 'unbroken' version with many of the musical inter...

Re: Parts 1 + 2 (Spoilers)
Another thought re: the 'something is missing'. Maybe it's the Owl Cave ring? We know from 'The Secret History' that the ring has ties to the Native people in Twin Peaks, it's linked to Cooper because of all the Lodge goings-on. I just don't know if I can trace the convoluted path of the ring adequa...

Re: NON SPOILERS: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Showtime Thread
Even two episodes a week might have been a better idea. Also, that would have gone along with the 9 weeks Showtime had originally intended it to play for as a limited series. Yeah, I agree. 9 weeks of two episodes each seems like a good compromise but there are financial benefits for Showtime to st...

Re: NON SPOILERS: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Showtime Thread
Yeah, it would a mistake to equate "cultural event" with good TV ratings. That hasn't been the case for a very long time. Very true. But still, this reception does make me wonder if linear TV (even if it's premium cable), doled out in weekly installments, was really the best choice for di...

Re: NON SPOILERS: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Showtime Thread
I must agree that the marketing angle was a mistake -- they should have been framing the central questions of the show for a new audience rather than being so damn mysterious. I don't think that kind of campaign would've ruined any sense of mystery for the fan base. Agreed. ABC gets a lot of flack ...

Re: NON SPOILERS: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Showtime Thread
I'm surprised Showtime went for this tbh because it's incredibly hard to market (even taking away Lynch's stipulations about extreme secrecy; a wonderful move but not something that works at all as promotion) and they'll probably lose money. I doubt the show will lose money. In fact, I wouldn't be ...

Re: Parts 3 + 4 (Spoilers)
I don't feel like he's BOB either, if he were, we'd see him rather trying to mimic poor good ol' Coop who couldn't help occasionally breaking out in random singing and dancing than being so obvious and forthcoming with his evil traits. This bugged me at first too but then I realized there is preced...

Re: Parts 3 + 4 (Spoilers)
I think Evil Coop is both BOB and a unique entity in and of himself at the same time. Sort of like how, in the Christian religion, there's God the Father and God the Son: two different unique manifestations of the same overall being. We were told in the original series that the people BOB inhabited ...
