Re: POLL - PART 17 & 18's biggest surprises will be...
I'm really hoping that after all these years, we'll find out what in the hell "I feel like I know her, but sometimes my arms bend back" meant. Wasn't that referring to how Laura's arms were bound behind her back before she was murdered? Yeh, that was cringingly literal enough. I don't get...

Re: Part 16 - No knock, no doorbell (SPOILERS)
Something weird about the tulpa concept...Tammy is the only one who's used that word, correct? She seems to pull it out of thin air in Part 14, which seemed odd to me...how did Albert's story about two identical-looking women take her directly to mention this VERY specific, obscure concept (which my...

Re: Part 16 - No knock, no doorbell (SPOILERS)
Audrey has a ring on her right middle finger while dancing that bears a resemblance to the Owl Cave ring -- tough to get a good luck since the lighting is dim and she's constantly moving her arms. Was she wearing this in the earlier scenes? Yes she does. What's odd is this heart ring on her left ha...

Re: Discussion of the "Titles" (SPOILERS)
I think Lynch wrote those descriptions himself. Can you tell us the other descriptions? That seems unlikely. If DKL personally wrote descriptions, Showtime would be using them. And the one description I was making fun of is inaccurate: Dougie wasn't a realtor; he was an insurance claims investigato...

Re: Part 16 - No knock, no doorbell (SPOILERS)
Random thoughts after a rewatch... Probably just a coincidence, but in the last shot of Richard exploding, something that looks a lot like the little gold "seed" balls falls downward from where he is, off the rock to the ground. It's probably just a stray spark, but it looks more solid and...

While Blue Velvet may be his most personal, and therefore authentic, work, I belive that MD was sourced from a similar place. Very interesting that you consider BV his most personal. While it is a terrific film with personal things in it (the fantasy of hiding in a woman's closet and seeing a myste...

Re: Theories & Speculation (SPOILERS)
I re-watched the scene of Cooper and the Fireman in Part 1. Was it ever confirmed what the scratching sound is? It reminded me of the (distorted) sound of a rotary phone because after every scratching there is a quiet scraping sound, similar to how a dial rotates back after dialing (I hope this des...

Re: References in the Return to Lynch's Non-TP Works (SPOILERS)
Soolsma gets the credit for finding this one: DKL's contribution to the 2010 film One Dream Rush has a LOT of resonance with TR's imagery and mythology.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
In regards to the attempts of some to drop in on this thread seemingly attempting to win converts, I'm reminded of a favorite piece of wisdom from a Mr. Donald Draper: "I'm not here to tell you about Jesus. Either he lives in your heart or he doesn't."

Re: Gender in Twin Peaks: The Return (SPOILERS)
A small thing, but it bothered me that Bellina Logan was credited as "Female Doctor." Wasn't she the only doctor in Part 16? Why was her gender relevant to the credit? Couldn't it have just been "Doctor"?

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
don't know that there is a difference. I was taught at some point that you never use the words "In my opinion..." when writing a critical analysis because it's implied in every single sentence. I understand why you think "artistic failure" sounds like a sweeping objective statem...

Re: Discussion of the "Titles" (SPOILERS)
My provider (U-Verse) now has listed descriptions instead of titles for parts 1 to 7 for the upcoming replay this Sunday. Parts 8 to 18 are still just titles. So, no worries, no spoilers. Part 1 says: "In the Black Lodge, the Giant tells Cooper to listen to the sounds." What? Black Lodge?...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
What is the difference between declaring something an artistic failure and stating one simply does not like a piece of art? That's my issue with the term 'artistic failure'- it give the air of something that is a critical consensus but really it's a personal opinion. I don't know that there is a di...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
It is absolutely batshit insane to me that some people seem incapable of understanding how or why others might find this work to be a self-indulgent artistic failure. I have reservations about the show, and am concerned that it might not add up to the sum of its "Parts," but overall, it's ...

Re: Part 16 - No knock, no doorbell (SPOILERS)
I just rewatched that scene too and was equally confused. By the way, it definitely seemed like Diane was aiming for Cole specifically, not Albert or Tammy. Not sure why but I noticed it upon rewatch. Like much of the Diane / Cole stuff, I'm SURE that there was a meta element to this, and Dern and ...
