Re: Animation or Remake with Real Actors?
One thing about rotoscoping though is it takes a while and is expensive. I've met the casting director who did Darkly, and she said the movie took much longer than average to do. Then again, CGI technology gets better by the week these days and Darkly was, I think, almost entering a brave new world ...

Rotoscope animation has also been employed in Charles Schwab commercials like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTsg9-JOogI

Re: Animation or Remake with Real Actors?
Yeah, see that movie's starting to get close - thumbs up. Seems like the more real-life the animation the less creepy. Why do you think it'd be creepy to make this even more precise? Well, the creepiness stems mostly from those people being "resurrected" from death. Also, in some of the p...

The Elephant Man and The Straight Story
I was looking at the "How would you rank David Lynch's films?" thread and it looks like most people consistently ranked these two films in the bottom half, including myself, and I was wondering why this is. Could it be that where mainstream audiences seem to discriminate against adventurou...

Re: Animation or Remake with Real Actors?
The only problem I foresee is that I remember reading an article which talked about the next obstacle would be to accquire the rights to use the likeness of the actor. For instance, if you could make a CG Kyle MacLachlan, it would be based on his likeness and therefore he could potentially sue any ...

Two more TP-related posts since I was last there.

Re: Animation or Remake with Real Actors?
Option 1, but could it be an animated continuation of TP with at least some of the original cast doing the voices?

no need for me to elaborate on the marsh debacle... these images pretty much sum up the scenes/themes/visuals that took me (way) out of the twin peaks moment: http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/3774/photo016bl2.jpg http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/2010/photo013mt4.jpg http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/2...

Re: Character vs. Character Development
I also think the show could be remade even darker than the original, which was impossible at the time given the culture of TV and the limitations of network range. In present day, on an unrestricted cable channel, TP could be lowered to a darker level to impose the good vs. evil construct onto the ...

Re: Character vs. Character Development
In 32 hrs of TV show, Cooper, the lead character, made one mistake, a mistake that predated the series. Ben showed "vulnerability" in the last ep, meaning he showed nothing for the first 30+ hrs of show. This is the pt I was making. Thank you. I don't think you read my entire post. Those ...

Re: Character vs. Character Development
I disagree with you for the most part. For instance, Cooper has made mistakes like when he was protecting Caroline. Ben Horne showed a lot of vulnerability in the last episode and the scene where he was watching the groundbreaking of the Great Northern. There are plenty of examples of character deve...

Sorry if that sounded too harsh, by the way. Despite my opinions, I still think Audrey was an integral character.

Re: "Do your palms ever itch?" All things Audrey
Supposedly Kyle actually threatened to walk if the relationship happened. Then what would the writers do? This is exactly what I thought must've happened. There had to be a reason they went from flirting to the suggestion of something more to no flirting at all. And there had to be more to it than ...

Re: Eraserhead is my most spiritual movie...
Your welcome. It sounds like torture to wait till the next time it comes on in a theater. Good thing i have the 2000 edition dvd of Eraserhead. It actually wasn't too bad since I think they released a new film print for the 30th anniversary. I'm pretty sure a lot of indie theaters bought that print...
