Re: Your reactions when the first episode hits

if they decide to release the episodes onto itunes as they air, I will be watching with coffee.

if not, I will be waiting until they are 5+ episodes in to sign up for Showtime's streaming service so i can start with a nice binge.

Re: Episode 11

Judge Sternwood is one of my favorite things about season 2. He's sort of the cool grandather figure for the Twin Peaks sheriffs, presiding at the roadhouse and drinking Black Yukon Suckerpunches. http://diningwithdiane.tumblr.com/post/ ... meeting-in.

Re: Axxon N and the cigarette burn

The cigarette burn is the other portal, where Sue connects herself with the Lost Girl. Once again, Sue might be a creation from the Lost Girl who's dealing with her inner demons, as the Lost Girl can be a way for Sue to understand her role in Inland Empire. The Cigarette Burn goes right into the Ra...

Re: fascinating boredom

Since Inland Empire started life as a bunch of separate things (Rabbits, Axxon N, etc) that grew together into a single thing with a 180 minute running time, I see nothing wrong with breaking it into two or three viewings. maybe start on Saturday morning during breakfast because who doesn't want Da...

Re: Cooper in season 3: good Coop or evil Coop?

I've noticed that this is one of the areas people seem to disagree about the most. I would love to hear 2 answers for each of these, what you THINK will happen but also what you PREFER to happen (if you have a preference). - Do you think the Cooper we meet in the new season will be the familiar Coo...

Re: Which do you prefer: Early Lynch or Later Lynch?

It looks like Twin Peaks is the border between Early Lynch and Later Lynch. Early Lynch has more linear narratives (except eraserhead) and more literary adaptations. Later Lynch is more nonlinear, more original content, and a G-rated disney movie to keep viewers guessing. I'm going with Twin peaks a...

Re: Coffee

for work, I make a big batch of cold brewed coffee in two french presses. 1 cup cold water for every 2 tbsp grounds (7 cups liquid total, to fill my thermos), stir, press the plunger down just enough to hold all the grounds underwater, let steep in the fridge overnight. push the grounds down the res...

Re: The Straight Story

the straight story is definitely an outlier. if Twin peaks/FWWM are happening in a dream as Phillip Jeffries said in his brief return to the FBI office, then the Straight Story is probably the waking world that particular dream originated from. edit to add: I think having its own thread would be qui...

Re: MUSIC

I will be very surprised if some of the original Badalamenti and Julee Cruise tracks from the first seasons aren't used in the new one - the music has always been a part of what ties everything together on the show. since the new season has some cast in common with Lynch's movies, i think some music...

Re: Episode 9

while the barbershop quartet sings, Agent Cooper tells Rosenfield about the Happy Generations in tibet. Tibet is an isolated place with a magical/mysterious reptuation, not unlike Twin Peaks. Maybe Twin peaks had its own Happy Generations that benefited from the weirdness and isolation before the Bl...

Re: Introductions

Hi, I'm Justin. I'm 36, remembered seeing Dune on cable tv as a kid and missed it, and that was the gateway to other David Lynch things about a year and a half ago. i started at Twin Peaks on netflix, which led to all the full-length movies and some of the shorts. It also inspired a Twin peaks food ...
