Re: Freddie's fight scene in part 17

One of my favorite moments from TP was when Leland recounted his childhood experiences up at Pearl Lakes, meeting Bob for the first time. Talking about a vacant house and playing with fire, sparking one's imagination. Such brilliant acting by Wise in the way he made you feel his pain. To me, TP was ...

Re: Freddie's fight scene in part 17

Thanks for your thoughtful response, Late Reg. To cut a long story short: I'm more into the way something feels than whatever intent Lynch and Frost may have had behind it. Similarly, I don't feel the need to dissect every part/episode to connect all the dots, even though I sometimes try to subconsc...

Re: Freddie's fight scene in part 17

Isn't that cutting Lynch/Frost a bit too much slack? Ie, it was intentional on their part to offer the unexpected, even if it meant achieving a less than satisfying end result on the whole. Going by that logic, they might as well have filmed Jacques' co-worker sweep the floors for 18 full hours. &qu...

That screenshot of Freddie with the green glove says it all really.

Re: Freddie's fight scene in part 17

Hopefully we can stay on topic without getting personal. It's a discussion forum after all where a difference of opinion is a good thing. Would Nadine killing off Bob in the original have felt like a suitable finale? Probably not. I don't see how Freddie with the green glove is more appropriate. Bob...

Re: Freddie's fight scene in part 17

Your comment about Nadine's superpowers vs Freddie's made me think. The difference is that you cared about Nadine. The same way you cared about Ed. That hadn't changed when Nadine walked up, showel on shoulder, to Ed let him know he was free. One of the stronger scenes from TR. It was beautiful and ...

Re: Freddie's fight scene in part 17

But that was in S2, wasn't it? And we all know S2 was deliberately made to be inferior to S1, so that S1 would appear stronger. Just the same way Freddie's fight scene was deliberately made to be unimpressive. Dig yourself out of the shit... ;)

Re: Freddie's fight scene in part 17

It's easy to over-intellectualize things. I read one comment earlier in the thread where the poster suggested that one must do as Dr. Amp says, dig yourself out of the shit, to really learn to appreciate the greatness of the Return :) It becomes a little far fetched. At the end of the day, it's all ...

Re: Freddie's fight scene in part 17

Started rewatching FWWM yesterday. The part where Laura goes home in the middle of the day, hesitating to go into her bedroom because of Bob possibly being there, and the jolt of fear that literally goes through the body when you start noticing he's in the room. Almost as if you were there in the ro...

Re: Freddie's fight scene in part 17

Ah, what a shame. I thought they were connected somehow sparking off my imagination and thinking there was a connection between the worlds of TP and IE somehow :)

Re: Freddie's fight scene in part 17

Is the orb scene the same thing as Freddie's fight scene? :) One other thing about the latter. The stage set looks closer to an office the way you would picture it in an IKEA store, meant to sell furniture, than the real TP sheriff's station. The stage sets from the original always felt very warm to...

Re: Freddie's fight scene in part 17

I am seeing some comments saying it was "meant to be uninmpressive"... Come on :)

That's just blind Lynch worship, finding ways to justify *anything*.

Freddie's fight scene in part 17

With some time having passed, what are your thoughts on this scene? Personally, the first time I saw it I couldn't believe that the monumental killing of Bob played out on an almost parodic B horror movie level. It was sad. Watching it again it's perhaps a bit stronger but so empty on atmosphere tha...
