Twin Peaks The Return: The Mixed/Moderately Disappointed Thread
Hello all, Upon some reflection I felt it might be a good thing to create a space for those of us who have a very mixed reaction to the new Twin Peaks - oscillating between like, love, dislike, and hate. I feel that perhaps myself and some others have been dominating discussions in the Profoundly Di...

Re: POLL - Do you Like Season Three and How long have you been watching twin peaks.
This thread is inherently skewed in asking us to choose love or hate. I really like S3. There are some scenes I love, some I don't like at all. Overall a very mixed reaction on my part but generally leaning towards positive. I'll have to wait to see the whole thing, but I am guessing I will ultimate...

Re: Part 14 - We are like the dreamer (SPOILERS)
Really hoping that we see Phoebe Augustine return as Ronette and not just American Girl. Not counting on it, though.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
See, visual effects often come down to personal taste, because I find that the effects in the original Jurassic Park film hold up to this day. That's because they mostly used animatronics and only used the CGI sparingly, and masked the limitations with lighting and rain. Those dinosaurs feel more re...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
Why not? Every time I watch that scene it stands out as clunky to me and nearly takes me out of the moment. But I still love that scene. You're talking about a completely different era of special effects. The digital effects possible today, just in the last few years, are unbelievable. Yet this sho...

Re: Gender in Twin Peaks: The Return (SPOILERS)
The demonic energy behind Sarah's face is like a storm of suppressed emotion, rage at powerlessness, betrayal, feelings of dirtiness and self-loathing at being a passive bystander in Laura's abuse and a monster's lover. Totally, that was my feeling too. It's interesting that many viewers feel that ...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
Regarding the special effects - yeah a lot of them aren't great. I don't know I feel about them. But, again, there is a precedent. Well come on, that's hardly an apt comparison. Why not? Every time I watch that scene it stands out as clunky to me and nearly takes me out of the moment. But I still l...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
Regarding the Sarah Palmer scene in part 14 - I don't think we should assume that Mrs Palmer has always had that evil inside of her. When she said "something happened to me" in part 12, I interpreted it as something bad has happened to her recently that resulted in this possession or whate...

Re: Part 14 - We are like the dreamer (SPOILERS)
So the Room James walks in, is that the same room where in the original ending of the original pilot bob was found with a circle of candles citing his chant about his deathbag? I really think that place in the great northern has some significance as the humming seems to come from that room. I thoug...

Yeah, me and my dad were curious about what those furry cylinders were, thank you for clearing it up!

One very important question I have for everyone - what makes people so sure that Sarah Palmer has the thing from the NYC box in her? Didn't look the same to me.

Re: Part 14 - We are like the dreamer (SPOILERS)
Yeah my gut told me that what Andy saw with Lucy while in the [White Lodge?] was a flash forward. Either that or a flashback to something important that happened to Andy and Lucy that we'll learn about later on.

Damn, if that guy in the jail cell is Billy ... poor Audrey! I was hoping he was gonna be a hottie as a contrast with Charlie. Well, there's still 4 hours for her to end up with Cooper. I'm pumped for part 15 - I'm anticipating uncharted territory. Another comment about this wonderful, wonder...

Re: Part 14 - We are like the dreamer (SPOILERS)
Oh man, and OF COURSE James is going after a married woman. That added some intrigue to that plot line, and the theme of being trapped in cycles. James is perpetually interested in the women he can't have.

Re: Part 14 - We are like the dreamer (SPOILERS)
Doesn't feel like we're treading water anymore. We have never been treading water. We have been spending time within a world, which much like our reality, is mostly devoid of exciting events but ultimately build into them. Key word being *feel*. To me there have been scenes that *felt* like we were...
