Re: To the Profoundly Disappointed: Are You Still Disappointed?
“Groundbreaking and acclaimed” geez I dunno. I feel like that phrase has become meaningless through overuse, it’s meaningless to this conversation, as far as discussing disappointment is concerned. It’s meaningless because Hollywood and media are.. what’s the word... corrupt? Dishonest for $ and al...

Re: To the Profoundly Disappointed: Are You Still Disappointed?
She just might (hear me out) feel exactly how she said she felt. Not everyone is a liar. I just watched Part 1 tonight. Part 1 was so promising. :( My recollection is that your posts were mostly positive or neutral until about Part 14, where Naido shows up nude. It felt to me at the time tha...

Re: To the Profoundly Disappointed: Are You Still Disappointed?
When I think of the Return, I think of Gordon offering a cigarette to Diane. I think of Sam staring at the glass box. I think of Dougie, which went on far longer than anyone expected, and whose scenes are comedically functioning off of the fact that the situations (owing to Cooper's literal physica...

Re: To the Profoundly Disappointed: Are You Still Disappointed?
Yay, new pages and posts complaining about TP the Return! Happy Holidays to me!! Throw in some FWWM and second half of second season and I’m over the moon! Too fast or too slow is not a problem for me if it’s done right. I could watch Bergman’s Persona all day long, or conversely Run Lola Run. For ...

Re: To the Profoundly Disappointed: Are You Still Disappointed?
Yeah, I'm staunchly on the side of loving S3, but I don't think the argument holds any water that those who found it slow are just 'conditioned' by recent media; not only is it presumptuous, it's condescending. While I have seen people who find IE boring, mostly due to its length, that film is extr...

Re: To the Profoundly Disappointed: Are You Still Disappointed?
Pacing actually deserves its own thread someday. In the original series, Episode 14, the reveal episode, is overall one of the slowest paced pieces of television ever (up until that time at least). It moves like a snail, really up until the moment where Ben Horne is arrested, then the pace picks up ...

Well there you go Mr. Lynch. Looks like you're all out of excuses. I wasn't suggesting he's making "excuses". I think mtwentz was simply joking, and I have to concur: we want a new David Lynch project, and we want it now! :) Yeah it was a joke, stealing a line from Tom Cruise in Mission I...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this? Wisteria/Unrecorded Night? Something else? (Speculation thread.)
Have any other notable projects been delayed indefinitely due to the pandemic? It seems everything is filming, all sorts of TV and movies, even those with 80-year-old stars. They'd be of the few outliers to an otherwise overwhelming trend. I don't have figures at hand but I'd guess there are more b...

not to get off on a tangent, but it really depends on age and health conditions. I personally don’t worry about COVID affecting me very much at all. My daughter’s boyfriend’s father, though, had a nasty case where he lost all sense of taste and smell and had to be hospitalized a few days. So I respe...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)
I'm pretty set on everything happening after Dale wakes up in the motel as Coop and Laura sharing the same dream. I never thought about that. ( I remember you pointing out on Twitter than when Coop leaves the motel and it being a different motel as being a key scene , but I did not realize that is ...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)
Not sure part 18 is so much set in 'reality', the dead body sitting in the living room, the way Cooper just accepts it, still feels rather dream-like. I think it's possible DL had a lot of these images in his head and he just wanted to translate it to the moving image without it being filtered too ...

Re: Yellowstone
It has been a show I have been interested in catching. I just heard a few whispers here and there.Hester Prynne wrote: ↑Mon May 31, 2021 4:26 pm Anyone else a fan of this show? Had a great finale last year, and I’ve been binge watching the last seasons again. Waiting for Season 4 trailer to drop.
How would you describe it?

Re: To the Profoundly Disappointed: Are You Still Disappointed?
I have to admit, TFD had about zero impact on me.
About the only thing to come out of it were the fates of Leo and Annie and confirming Sarah as 'the girl', which I don't think was a good idea, because it interpreted Episode 8 for us.
I agree TSHOTP is much better.
