Re: Part 6 - Don't die (SPOILERS)

I spend each week really not wanting it to end, to see the plot move forward a tad more, then I get really frustrated when the music starts! A good episode this week I thought. Loved seeing Carl, loved having at least a hint that Cooper is being encouraged on by the lodge inhabitants, which makes me...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Reading that back, I realise that I have revealed that I have no social life whatsoever. Home, office, WHAT ELSE IS THERE?!!

Don't have kids people. Just say no.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

To me it would simply be a waste of one of the greatest TV creations ever. Why bother with a new series where Cooper doesn't appear in something close to his original form for most of it? I don't expect things to change much tomorrow, but we'll see. I think they can't really string out the Dougie si...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Oddly enough, considering how much I'm totally loving The Return, I'm finding a lot of the richest conversation on the whole board to be in this thread. Go figure. I don't mean to intrude! It's just hard to pass substantive discussion by. It's because you can actually criticise the show in this thr...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Hey I wasn't trying to tell anyone that they should like it, or why they should like it. I was just sharing my own initial frustrations with it, and the problems that I see with the direction they chose to go in in the first parts. To me it feels like it might all eventually make sense, but the firs...

Re: POLL: Kyle MacLachlan is an Excellent Actor - TRUE or FALSE?

Showgirls is genius!!! There is a whole book devoted to defending it, and I'm definitely in the camp that sees it as a masterpiece. Paul Verhoeven does nothing by accident, and the outrageous camp of that film is exactly what was intended. I've always seen him as a pisstaker par excellence of Hollyw...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I still reckon that once the plot opens up a bit, some of the naysayers will revise their opinion (but then probably some people who love it will start hating it!). It's interesting to think about what Frost/Lynch said before the show started. Particularly about having a strong path through the wood...

Re: How many times have you rewatched? (SPOILERS)

I can't really remember. I think I've seen the first 2 three times. 3+4 twice, and 5 once. The first viewing I was so excited I couldn't actually process anything. I made the mistake of checking the forum to see what the buzz was before watching episode 2 for the first time, and the negativity made ...

Re: Part 5 (SPOILERS)

I really hope for that, but it's totally unclear to me whether he will gain powers slowly or quickly. It would seem a massive waste of a good character to stretch the Dougie behaviour on for too much longer however. My guess is that the key gets back to TP, they somehow find him, and this accelerate...

Re: Part 5 (SPOILERS)

Indeed, loads of questions and no obvious answers. It's great!

One more thought- I'm assuming that this episode will stop people claiming that they can't see Frost's influence.

Re: Part 5 (SPOILERS)

Oh, and I agree that the pacing this week seemed the best of the episodes so far. It actually felt like I was watching a TV show.

Re: Part 5 (SPOILERS)

I spent the whole hour this week not wanting it to end. I loved the Truman wife scene. I guess you either find the "henpecked stoic law man" trope funny or you don't. I also loved Mike's scene, for precisely this reason. His personality and delivery were so consistent with his teenage self...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Seconded- it's very cool. It really feels to me like bits of this new series are similar to the first one, except the lack of soundtrack totally changes the feel. I'm not in the camp that thinks that the music is suddenly going to make a return (this seems like wishful thinking to me), but I'd love ...
