Re: What happened to Donna? (Casting Spoilers)

Just happened to be rereading Dugpa's excellent 2007 interview with Charles Lauzirika regarding the Gold Box set and ran across an interesting (irrelevant, at this point, but interesting) tidbit: Lauzirika says he "came close" to getting an interview with LFB for Secrets from Another Place...

Re: Beyond Season 3?

RR would be terrific, although that script needs some work (at least, as of the DeLaurentiis-era draft available online). There should really be a dedicated thread to discuss that script on the DL board - wonder how much interest there would be? I love all of Lynch's features, but a Maharishi biopic...

Re: Inland Empire Wiki

SC, that's terrific news! Hope we get more people pitching in. I think IE is severely underrated, even in Lynch-fan circles.

Re: Episode 29

I was rereading the script for Ronnie Rocket and noticed something fun that I had forgotten: the lyrics to "Under the Sycamore Trees" originated in the film! In the earlier of the two RR drafts available online, a "hard low-class girl" speaks the lyrics to a "greasy tattooed...

Re: The Unorthodox/Controversial TP Opinion Thread

Yeah, this reminds me of that discussion in the other thread recently about Lynch's wacky sense of humor actually being part of the show's aimless wackiness in S2, instead of all that being something completely outside of Lynch's sensibilities. Most of his material in that vein, characters like And...

Re: The Unorthodox/Controversial TP Opinion Thread

Hm, well that depends on your definition of "considerably"! I do think the core/essence of TP is Lynch/Frost. Maybe with a bit more of an edge for Lynch primarily because he made the film (which defines/re-defines part of that core, and was the endpoint for 25 years) without Frost. Althou...

Re: The Unorthodox/Controversial TP Opinion Thread

Yeah, it definitely is visible pretty much throughout his whole filmography to some extent. Incidentally, I think one of the reasons why Lost Highway is one of my favorite Lynch films is it probably has the least of that wacky humor in it of all (in fact probably the least humor of any kind). FWWM ...

Re: The Unorthodox/Controversial TP Opinion Thread

Not sure if this is that controversial, but on this last re-watch I really came to resent Andy and, to a lesser extent, Lucy. Andy is first introduced as a somewhat interesting character, a big softie and a rare policeman with heart on sleeve; why the writers chose to make him progressively dumber ...

Re: 'The Secret History of Twin Peaks' novel by M. Frost 10/18

Well- that's certainly what I would call a tie-in as well! I assume they just want people to know this is NOT a novelization of either series, and is original content. Personally, I'd still consider that a "tie-in", but its just semantics I guess. Yes, I believe their definition of "...

Inland Empire Wiki

Over the last few nights, I've thrown together a wiki for the film. Certainly a notion that Lynch would bristle at, but I felt that for this film in particular, some would find it a valuable resource to catalogue the various characters and motifs. I've always loved the "Lost on Mulholland Drive...

Re: What happened to Donna? (Casting Spoilers)

It's also possible that Moira was asked and elected not to do the series for religious reasons. I've read that she's very Catholic, and she had to confer with her priest because she was conflicted about appearing in FWWM. It doesn't look like she's appeared in much if any R-rated material since FWWM.

Re: On The Air

Another OtA cameo I've never seen anyone reference: Lynch is the voice of Mr. Zoblotnick over the phone at the end of the pilot (yelling in Gordon Cole style, but with Vadja's accent: "We have a hit!").

Re: FWWM timeline

The alt.tv.twin-peaks timeline follows the dates in the shooting script, which contains captions for each day. It begins on "Thursday - Seven Days Before." Those of us who can do math better than Lynch and Engels will calculate that this means the script actually covers the last eight days...

Re: The Unorthodox/Controversial TP Opinion Thread

Sorry if this is slightly OT, but it goes back to the discussion a page or so back about Lynch & Frost's involvement/responsibility for the controversial late-season-2 period of the show (and, let's face it, that period of the show is by default the main topic of conversation in this thread...) ...

I agree. (For those interested/unaware, here's a link to the a.t.t-p timeline: http://www.twinpeaks.org/archives/references/timeline)
