Re: Let's talk about MIKE
I dug up some stuff I transcribed from Al Strobel's responses at one of the 2013 USC Twin Peaks retrospective Q&A's, and this bit relates to the thread: QUESTION : I had this friend who got me really into Twin Peaks, and he was kind of an odd guy. And he told me something that I never forgot, bu...

Re: The Tremonds
I think we’re mostly in agreement. MIKE calls himself an “inhabiting spirit” in the series, and I think that’s true enough, despite the possible retcon of his character in the film. I don’t think it particularly matters if we call them gods, spirits, or demons. That may be mere semantics. I think yo...

Re: Let's talk about MIKE
I've said this before, but my feeling (or rationalization) about MIKE/Gerard and Gerard's arm is that MIKE, while in control of Gerard, gets the tattoo with the FWWM poem/incantation. Phillip Gerard, in a time of relative lucidity, cuts off the arm in an attempt to rid himself of MIKE, which either ...

Re: The Tremonds
I have a hard time separating the Grandson from magic, since he's "learning" magic, and makes quasi-garmonbozia move from one place to another. I don't know if he's "The Magician", but he may be, or he may simply be one aspect of "The Magician", if there is indeed a Mag...

Re: The Tremonds
It seems like they are evil, though, since they appear in the Room Above the Convenience Store with Bob and the Little Man, with a small bowl of garmonbozia ("pain and suffering") at their feet, which the other participants also receive in various proportions. And the Grandson even says t...

Re: The Tremonds
I've always thought of the grandson as Lynch, the magician. That's a very simple reading. Obviously it can be more complex and less literal than that, but I think that's a big element. I mean, both grandsons look like Lynch, and seem to be styled after Lynch.

Merry Christmas from Twin Peaks Archive: d2cIu-DQCCM Cool. You know what's interesting, I don't think Coop is ever shown drinking alcohol on the show. He sometimes has a drink in front of him, but he never drinks it. One scene where he's sitting at the Roadhouse bar, he picks it up and puts it down...

Re: TP Ugly Sweater Contest
This is funny, but some of them aren't that bad. What surprised me was that you didn't have James' car-fixing sweater. "Hey, I'm gonna go work on this old car and get all greasy, I think I'll put in this poofy sweater!" You mentioned Leo's looking like the Owl Cave Ring (I'd say it looks l...

Re: Part 3 of Journey Through Twin Peaks: The Whole Damned T
I have to say you have certainly done a fantastic job with these installments, a true labor of love. And they are just so much fun to watch. The amount of care in the outstanding edit is well, outstanding. Pro work, and in case it hasn't been mentioned, the voice-over work is also very well done, p...

Re: Part 2 of Journey Through Twin Peaks: The Center Cannot
I would probably have less luck with the CBS lawyer on that front haha... Obviously youtube is not an option. Of course there's always the joy of a more personal project shared privately with a small circle die-hard fans. I can dream, can't I? I'd try it myself, but I've got no video editing experi...

Re: Part 2 of Journey Through Twin Peaks: The Center Cannot
"Chapter 14 will premiere within the next few"? Minutes? Decades? Don't leave us hangin'. Watching this chapter I again find myself longing to see a fanedit of season two's rough patch. I know a man who's up to the job... :D What a spectacular project it would be leading up to the 2016 sea...

Re: Twin Peaks: Season Three confirmed for 2016 on Showtime
The creative impulse on the part of a fan is certainly understandable, sure. What I don't track with is saying they have to officially reedit the show on Showtime or for re-release. That is never going to happen, and shouldn't IMO - the original show is indelible in the public consciousness, warts ...

Re: Twin Peaks: Season Three confirmed for 2016 on Showtime
Personally, I find the talk of reediting season 2 more cringeworthy than adding the "May The Giant Be With You" titles. I find all the second guessing of Lynch's creative thought processes in this vein to betray a lack of understanding about Lynch's work from the time period People have a...

Re: Twin Peaks: Season Three confirmed for 2016 on Showtime
I wonder if Showtime will show the original series in its correct aspect ratio, or if they will crop off the top and bottom to fit the widescreen? I think it's almost certain that it will be shown in its original aspect ratio without cropping, as that's simply how the shots were framed for aestheti...

Re: Twin Peaks: Season Three confirmed for 2016 on Showtime
Where can I find this chart, Jasper? http://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/aa453/JasperArmstrong/Twin_Peaks_Guide_main.jpg Here you are. It's very blunt, sorting episodes into three categories. Obviously there's quality variation within each category, but it's meant to reflect general views, and anyt...
