figures getting sick - combining mediums

For me Lynch was a great influence. Being a painter I could identify with his transition. I liked his sculpture that had the film projection on it - Six Men getting sick. I like Lynch's earliest work best, Eraserhead prob his most original and uncomprimising work. I just thought I would post about m...

Re: Introductions

Hello my name is Mike. I have British parents and was brought up with a lot of British TV. I am an artist and usually do paintings. I like Lynch because of his paining background. Francis Bacon, David Lynch, JG Ballard, Joy Div, Birthday Party, Nick Cave, ABC, PBS, CBS, SBS and BBC are big influence...

What sort of forum are you talking about? One on his own site davidlynch.com or another? I have never been to that site because it costs money.

Re: David Lynch 'problem solvers' on youtube

Yeah my friends and I have done impressions of Lynch. I think the problem solvers are really good and now whenever I do one of my badf Lynch impressions I actually do the hand thing. I like what they have done. The dude does a fine job. I have only seen the one with the band practice and the go-go d...

Re: David Lynch is in my bathtub / Inland Empire Premiere...

This is a crude website I am working on. The home page has the David Lynch in my bathtub film. In the Gallery there is a propper version of Videodrome Hands. The paintings are in exhibition here in Australia but you can see them online. Here is is the site http://mikeretter.tripod.com

yeah, I am not sure either...

Yeah FWWM was my favourite Lynch film too. I do not know what would be now, proberbly Eraserhead. I can see flaws or cliches in FWWM that I would not have before but I will always hold it as a special film. The thing with Lynch is he makes the same film over and over like a painter working the same ...

remakes

Hey I agree with remakes being mostly bad. The thing with videodrome is I want to remake it autobiographicaly in Australia. I will use the very bare bones of his idea, loosely and reinvent it from the ground up. I actualy want it to be an Australian film if I made it but it is just one of the many i...

Videodrome Hands

I love Cronenbergs CRASH the most. Videodrome is an interesting film but highly flawed. What I loved best about it was the ideas, it almsot had to many ! I share something with videodrome in that over the past few years I have worked in a community TV station (I left recently because of creative dif...

Art-based accomodation

What is art based accomodation ? Is a place you can stay if you make art there? The experience you are trying to generate is very interesting. That would be very meditative.

Sounds

Yeah that is interesting. The soundtrack is Lynch inspired along with Splet. I like the soundtrack of Eraserhead for it's constant un-escapable noise. That could be partly a technical issue as well as sound design but it works great. I think Eraserhead works best of all his films (I have not yet see...

Thankyou!

Thank you. I am influenced by Lynch's early work such as the men getting sick sculpture he made with movement provided by an animation projecteed onto it. I hope people continue to talk about Lynch and Cronenberg. The comparisen is fair in the sence that they are both good directors. If you really w...
