Re: One year later - how are we feeling?

Not much different, I guess. I think L/F pulled off an incredible feat here. They revisited Twin Peaks while managing to strip it of even the slightest potential for emotional involvement. For me, it was basically an 18-hour art installation which replaced any genuine humanity with a ridiculously co...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I've taken a pretty long break from this forum, but I decided to catch up earlier. Once caught up, I started re-reading some of the individual part threads, and got depressed all over again. It's rather bittersweet to read all of the speculation about the various minute and tantalizing details of ea...

Re: Season 3 was incredibly mean-spirited (spoilers)

In the final analysis, I think the cruel and nasty tone of this show is exactly what bothered me the most. I absolutely do NOT want to re-ignite the part 10 gender debate, but that's exactly what I (and others) were bothered by. And now that it turns out that those scenes were meaningless and pointl...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

honest question for all the people who are profoundly dissapointed: what were your thoughts on Inland Empire when it came out? I love Inland Empire (probably obvious from my screen name and avatar). It's maybe a notch below Mulholland Drive overall, but I think it's pretty close. I feel like one ca...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

I'm curious why James Marshall was happy with the role he was given. Didn't he mention something about being important and having a great character arc? I feel his role was disjointed and cut short. Ditto Audrey - but Sherilyn Fenn said she was happy with what she'd been given too, though at least ...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

Genuinely astonished by how many people there are that didn't enjoy 18, to the point where there are multiple posters claiming they're in tears at how awful it was. I'd rate it as my second favourite episode of The Return after 8. Loved it. I think tonight's reaction is almost identical to what I r...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

Quick Thoughts on Part 18 - Ugh. It was just awful. Single-handedly the worst episode of any TV show I've ever seen. The worst finale ever. And I usually hate it when people say things like that and jump in to defend the writers/creators. But this was just awful. Even leaving aside the dashed/hopes...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

The finale made it seem like the previous 16 hours served no purpose. That appears to be the case. Also Season 1, Season 2, and FWWM. And the Missing Pieces. And TSHOTP. This is a story. If watching literally any of those could tell you anything, it'd be don't expect anything linear or conventional...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

It was kind of what I expected. An ending that would outrage and will take all of us together trying to put different interpretations to come to a handful of them that work for us (there will be more than one for sure). I was expecting a cliffhanger, no real resolution... but this was far beyond th...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

Expecting the Season 4 announcement soon. That was no ending. It was kind of what I expected. An ending that would outrage and will take all of us together trying to put different interpretations to come to a handful of them that work for us (there will be more than one for sure). Spot on. A conven...

Re: Part 16 - No knock, no doorbell (SPOILERS)

It looks like Audrey is seeing herself for the first time after 25 years, right? My initial read was that she was simply confused as to her surroundings or situation but now I dunno, seeing that GIF. So at the end of the Roadhouse scene, she's very close to Charlie, facing him directly. After the s...

Re: Part 16 - No knock, no doorbell (SPOILERS)

Since we're all struggling with what the Diane/Naido connection might mean, let me throw a curveball at it: Naido backwards is O-Dian. Might that explain the extra "E" at the end of Janey's name? Since she may/may not be her half-sister?

Re: Part 16 - No knock, no doorbell (SPOILERS)

If this Diane was a tulpa, then what are we retrospectively meant to make of her scene with EvilCoop in the jailhouse? She seemed so genuinely disturbed and vulnerable there. Was it another one of the moments like in her last scene in Gordon's hotel room where the "real" Diane was struggl...
