Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
No idea why I just thought of it, but my goodness that Green Glove thing was just plain inept.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
Posted a grip of links on the Gender thread but this one stood out, if anyone who cares about the male violence against women topic is still here. The mission statement on the site can answer any of the usual ‘but, art.. reality’ defenses, and no, no one advocates censorship. Also for all those who...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
Of all the different ways we might not have been able to 'go home again' the one we got seems one of the most trite and least interesting of possibilities, both psychologically shallow and thematically disjointed, unable to really connect with the original in a meaningful way nor build anything of s...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
Thought about TP:TR today for the first time in ages. The thought was how disappointing it was. Just came to share that.

Re: Idea for Twin Peaks/Eastenders crossover
The good Den Watts is in the Lodge, and he can't leave. Write it in your diary.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
I think the final 2 episodes worked on a level. On one level, it moved along at a pace, there was a story being told, not just mood-setting people sweeping the floors in the roadhouse. On another level, there was a sense of relief that it was finally going to be over.

Re: POLL: The Nature of Audrey's Situation (Spoilers)
the dance routine cringeworthy Yes, there's something ugly and unsettling about that dance. It's not that she is old --far from it. I think that SF was just not in the mood. She was already pissed off and she didn't put her heart into it (can't blame her). I agree if you take the dance out of the c...

Re: Gender in Twin Peaks: The Return (SPOILERS)
Well, we've reached that point where we're both pointing at the textual evidence and wondering why the other one can't see how it supports our reading.. On the contrary, I haven't seen any text being presented for the 'tough cookie' reading, but rather that those following that singular reading are...

Re: Gender in Twin Peaks: The Return (SPOILERS)
Could it perhaps make Cooper's detour through the life of Dougie seem more perilous or frustrating? I don't know. No, she's a character in her own right, not simply there to prop up the male protagonists narrative arc. Imagining she must be subservient to the male plot cuts right to the heart of th...

Re: POLL: The Nature of Audrey's Situation (Spoilers)
What we see is Coopers lodge fantasy about Audrey based on his recollection of her and imagining her 25 years on. It starts off with her being irrational, with complete dependance on a male figure - due to the impossibility of imagining Audrey without a man in tow, but he is less of a man than coop...

What in the last episode end-titles?
She's whispering the story you've just seen, and has been for 25 years.

Re: What were the most impactful scenes of TP:TR?
Positively, Bobby crying at the sight of Lauras photo, 25 years after her death is probably the image that comes to mind. Negatively, green glove kid punching bob-ball. Where the whole thing just turned into a joke. Funnily enough nothing from Episode 8, which I enjoyed most, has stuck with me at all.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
Do you feel endangered by one measly thread on this entire forum devoted to the season's woes and weaknesses? Don't be obtuse; it's obviously dispiriting to see this thread almost every time one clicks on this forum. I 100% disagree. As a fan of Lynch and Twin Peaks who has been profoundly disappoi...

Re: Gender in Twin Peaks: The Return (SPOILERS)
She makes breakfast for them and doesn't even sit down to eat, This is true, and a good observation. Look how skinny she is. Janey-E not eating is about her preserving the self-image, not making a sacrifice, which is what drives the need for new cars and shiny things. It does raise further question...
