Re: Tulpas vs. Doppelgangers
I can agree with you there, on a more symbolic level. Just the logic behind both of their actions as far as the plot went, makes more sense to me that he would have had to use some force, but then again it's hard to say if she had been under the assumption that he was the normal Cooper and had no id...

Re: Tulpas vs. Doppelgangers
I don't have much to add, other than I don't think it was Diane's choice to make her own tulpa; I think Mr. C somehow trapped her in the mauve room, perhaps with the help of the arm's doppelgänger? Either way, to me it feels like he had some level of control over her tulpa, whether it was some type ...

Re: "I mean it like it sounds, like it is."
As far as the owls go, going off the dream motif, they are said to symbolize coming to self awareness, to realize secrets hidden away. Forests, being the unconscious, it makes sense for the owls to roam and find unfortunate truths. Thus their association with Bob, the suppressed feelings within ever...

Re: Dougie Jones Discussion
I have a bit of a different take on things...of course, one more closely represents what is classically good, and the other evil, but I also feel both Dougie and Mr. C are meant to show different attitudes towards how one lives their life. Dougie almost never had his own agency, always strung along ...

Re: So is there anyone else who prefers The Return to the original?
It's a very mixed bag for me all around. The Return is fresh in my mind while it's been a few years since the original, for one thing. Another being that while there were a few characters I liked a lot in TR, the new characters weren't very interesting for the most part. That said, season 2 felt ver...

Re: Calling all who think the original timeline is still intact
My reconciliation is a bit boring as I find the dream theory to hold more weight than trying to apply cold, hard logic to a lot of these events. Even so, it's hard for me to think of exactly how the timeline would split because we are at a loss to what actually happens to Laura, whether she is kille...

Re: S3: Biggest Disappointment About Unresolved Subplots?
I would argue that there's nothing sloppy about any of this. Lynch and Frost were obviously not interested in conventional "set up" and "pay off" style storytelling, but I think TPTR is all the better (and more coherent!) for it. It's all about thematic resonance. The Return was...

Re: The "We live inside a dream" theory
I'm still endlessly mulling things over and uncertain about a lot of stuff. Conflicting ideas I've had about the end of season 2 as well as FWWM make a bit more sense, at least, if we go by the idea that most or all of it was a dream. The question becomes who is the dreamer, and initially I thought ...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Satisfied Support Group (SPOILERS)
I just finished this afternoon and while I would like to let it sit, my initial thoughts er on the side of satisfied, though not without some reservations. Ultimately I think I'll have to rewatch the whole series; despite having started only a few years ago, not every detail is fresh in my mind. Tha...

Re: Part 8 - Gotta light? (SPOILERS)
Just catching up now, watched both 7 and 8 tonight. Who knows when I'll get to the rest. Interesting reading the first dozen pages and last few on here, don't have time to look at the rest unfortunately. So I'll probably repeat ideas or give some already disproven by the subsequent episodes, but her...

Games
Kinda hard to get a grasp on the age range or general demographic here, just wondering what fellow TP fans might enjoy as far as video games go? I grew up with the SNES mostly, then predominantly N64 and Gamecube, although there was some PS2 here and there, then the Wii. Wasn't until I got my first ...

Re: Introductions
Kinda already made my intro in another thread but it wasn't fully dedicated to that. So here I am with more detail. Born around the time the middle of the show first aired, so obviously I didn't watch it then. I only got the gold box set after having played a game that was essentially almost entirel...

Re: Parts 3 + 4 (Spoilers)
Newish fan here. Not to make this an introduction or anything, just to give an idea of where I'm coming from with what my first impressions of these new episodes are. Born on Nov 21 1991, so this show was a bit before my time for the most part. Cartoons were fine, grew up with Sailor Moon and later ...
