Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
Anti-nostalgic WTF? You couldn't be more wrong. Part 18 is arguably one of the most nostalgic pieces of television ever. It depicts exactly what nostalgia is. A faint distant voice in the pitch black darkness and a scream.

Absolutely this. They are good for very different reasons. Personally I consider Season 1 to be sublime. But the specific way and manner TR is good in, the original show is not.dronerstone wrote:I like both and while they're part of the same universe, I'd rather not compare the two.

Re: FINAL POLL!!!!!!! Your Reaction to The Return as a Complete Work
Again I feel like this poll is unnecessarily pussyfooting a bit around. 'Like' and 'love' should again be separate choices, they are not synonymous by any stretch. But to get on topic, my personal opinion is that it's very yrev difficult to give a final verdict to this show. Mark Frost was not jokin...

Re: Part 14 - We are like the dreamer (SPOILERS)
It was "Elk's Point #9 Bar". I thought it was in Twin Peaks, and I don't think there was anything that suggested it was somewhere else. Sarah was walking there. Why would she walk to a different town to have a drink if she can have a drink in Twin Peaks? Perhaps to hide a drinking problem...

Re: Part 13 - What story is that, Charlie? (SPOILERS)
there isn't actually a pattern.. Of course I know that... and episode 8 (to take the most obvious example) could NEVER have ended with going back to the roadhouse. BUT the ending with the band is the STANDARD ending and here it didn't warrant a deviation. The Ed scene was powerful indeed, yes. But ...

Re: Part 13 - What story is that, Charlie? (SPOILERS)
Only blatant mistake this episode: Ed scene REALLY should have gone before the Roadhouse scene. No reason to break the usual structure.. it fell flat. Almost a very good ending but the detail really annoyed me. Considering how good it was otherwise. Btw I almost felt like the character who saw / hea...

Must be real tough to be a member of the "Where's Audrey" legion now, hahahaha Nope. I'm a huge Audrey fan and I loved it. I prefer Charlie over Titanic guy tbh. The only thing that outright disappointed me (ok some of the Albert / Cole stuff could have been snappier too but it gets the p...

Re: Part 10 - Laura is the one (SPOILERS)
So was that Moby as one of the musicians at the end? I wondered if he was the guy talking to NaughtyCoop outside the Box. I wonder if Jefferies was recast and it's David Bowie's good friend Moby (another "Musician," as per this ep's credits) in his place. Please no. Very few people can co...

Re: NON SPOILERS: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Showtime Thread
Does anyone know if it is legally possible to secure against future "licensed" seasons or anything of that matter? ! Hergé, the creator of the Tintin comic books, did that. No new official Tintin stories are allowed to be made.. everything, the TV-series and Spielberg's film, have been ba...

Re: NON SPOILERS: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Showtime Thread
I'm really not ready for this to be over. I want more but at the same time I don't. I am just so thankful that Mark and David decided to return. I guess if we get another season we'll be lucky. I'm honestly not expecting it though. :( I used instinctively, of course without having any concrete stuf...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
Regarding the contempt for the original show, I think it's fair to say that Lynch had a bit of contempt for it even during the original run in the episodes he helmed, or at least wasn't shy about doing his own thing. Look at episode 8, which totally changes the rhythms of season 1 and has character...

Re: Part 7 - There's a body all right (SPOILERS)
to me it's pretty clear - based on the convention of how news interviews are typically done in this manner in tv and film - showing the shaky video quality of real life juxtaposed to the smooth film of the story. The people are being interviewed -and not just interviewed -they're the snippet, sound...

Re: Product Placement in 2017 Twin Peaks (Spoilers)
Loving product placement (or the lack thereof) in the new series. Especially that Blackberry :) And how they switched from an enormous Mercedes badge on BadCoop's first car to using almost exclusively lincolns, then to an old rusty Ford. All brands of electronics Samsung, Gaypple, a Thinkpad (yay!)...
