Re: Special Effects in Season 3

Yeah, the Bluray changed a lot for me. I initially really disliked the shot of Cooper tunneling into the outlet before his shoes drop, and it's because the image was so bright on Showtime, to the point I could see jaggy outlines. On Bluray it looked way, way smoother, just because of the lighting. T...

Re: Twin Peaks: The Complete Television Collection (Paramount) 10/15/19

Just like how the mention of this release on the original TVshowsonDVD post was deleted (and now, it seems, even comments that were asking why TP was removed are gone), now the article they had about this on Welcome to Twin Peaks is gone. Seems there's an effort to scrub mention of this from the net...

Re: Twin Peaks: The Complete Television Collection (Paramount) 10/15/19

The facebook post that the Twin Peaks Archive twitter account linked as source to this news appears to have deleted mention of Twin Peaks and this set from the post here. Did you have a difference source, OP?

Re: Twin Peaks: The Complete Television Collection (Paramount) 10/15/19

FWWM not being on it would have been way, way worse had it not had a Criterion release, which is honestly as definitive a version as you could ask for, anywho. I dunno, I prefer the Entire Mystery extras. The new interviews for the Criterion disc are nice, but it’s missing the two terrific 2014 doc...

Re: Twin Peaks: The Complete Television Collection (Paramount) 10/15/19

...or will it be a quick repackaging of previously released material designed to make a quick buck over the holidays? You know, we've been so used to these massive undertaking type releases I never even considered ... it could just be a repackaging. I feel like 4K will be a while regardless--in its...

Re: Twin Peaks: The Complete Television Collection (Paramount) 10/15/19

LOL @ "again and again," you don't say!! The Entire Mystery took a mere two years to not be so entire, but at least this is what it says on the tin, at the cost of a non-clunky tagline. But hey, it could have been worse, "Twin Peaks Ultimate Filmless Collection"? :o FWWM not bein...

Re: Part 8: reference to 2001?

Lynch was once asked about Tree of Life and stated politely but clearly that "it's not his thing" or something like that, clearly insinuating that he did not like it. Which also lends weight to the anti-Tree of Life feeling of the sequence. He said, very characteristically, "It wasn'...

Re: Part 8: reference to 2001?

Recalling the absolutely next level experience from my childhood, an other-worldly, other-dimensionally mind-ripping trip into planes of thought I'd never reached previously, the combination of fear and wonder were literally overwhelming and I had never experienced anything like it before. I had se...

Re: General Discussion on Season 3 (All Opinions Welcome)

I just feel like advertising under the name Twin Peaks, claiming it's Cooper's journey back into Twin Peaks and then delivering Dougie Show with a dozen pointless side characters is false advertising. But what was Twin Peaks? At the time, similar things were levied against it; during season 1, come...

Re: The Random Season 3 Thread

As for the Roadhouse scenes, other than all the reasons LateReg has listed for loving them (with which I wholeheartedly agree), I also feel that they return to the feel of the Pilot, which had a rather sprawling cast of mill workers, school principals, lawyers, doctors, etc. It really felt like a w...

Re: Blu-ray

Strange. This sounds rude on Lynch's part on the surface. But ever since the FB post it sounded to me like they didn't read through the contracts thoroughly, and this latest post only confirms that. Industry norm or not, contracts exist for a reason.

Re: The Random Season 3 Thread

I have to throw my hat into the pile of loving the Roadhouse scenes. They feel very in line stylistically with IE, which has long been my favorite Lynch project. Without them S3 wouldn't have the fragmented mileu that it does.

Re: Blu-ray

Since we know the commentary track was recorded, I wonder if the hour-long interview with Lynch was also put on tape before the relationship between KL and DKL broke down? Was there ever any indication they had shot this themselves though? I assumed it was just an old video they would have attached...

Re: The Random Season 3 Thread

It's almost as though Lynch and Frost punished Wise for spilling the beans about the Return, or didn't trust him to keep the plot secret if he had a bigger part. While this might sound silly, and probably isn't true, his blink-and-miss-it appearance really was quite surprising. Did anyone expect Wi...

Re: Does Lynch have spiritual significance?

In terms of like, actual spiritual texts, I'm honestly more into things that come from the Frost side, like Theosophy, Kabbalah, demonology and alchemy. From the Lynch side I respond more to the sense of quantum instability that seems like a serious motif in his work, the idea of space (as in, the a...
