Re: 'Russian Doll' Makes Me Appreciate S3 More (Spoilers for RD)

***************Russian Doll Spoilers***************** I really enjoyed Russian Doll for what it is, don't get me wrong, it's one of the few shows I have watched and enjoyed since The Return. However.... As I watch the 'time loops' explained, it really makes me appreciate more and more the approach ...

Re: Carrie Page and Last Temptation of Christ thoughts (spoilers 4 Last Tempt.)

regarding Swerves. Cool book, but I was a little disappointed. As a guy who reads a lot about physics most of Swerves was pretty trite. vague and repetitive associations between concepts like entanglement and various Lynch characters. A great article or post but not enough material for a great book ...

Re: Teresa Banks and Carrie Page

I think you may really be onto something. What you said - all of it. I am watching that entire car sequence w Leland and Mike in FWWM in a new light. Really indicative of some kind of identity superposition Teresa and Laura (or Carrie). The very next scene when Laura is in her room and she has a fla...

Re: The Random Twin Peaks Thread

Given all that you both wrote, and great points btw, I still wonder about the contribution of these so-called bad episodes and subplots to the Twin Peaks world at large. I'll make the argument that they are in fact bad in this context: Most of those subplots (Dick Tremayne and little Nicky, Evelyn ...

Re: The Random Twin Peaks Thread

Couldn't have said it better myself. And for the record: I love all of season 2, even the "bad" stuff. For me as a contemporary viewer back then, it was an unparalleled thrill after the Palmer situation got resolved guessing what could possibly come next and where in the heck will Lynch -...

Re: The Random Twin Peaks Thread

To bolster the arguments by S2 sympathizers above I would add that S2 is the perfect compliment to S1, the yin to its yang. That I agree it doesn't get the credit it deserves and there are moments of real novelty and brilliance. Ben lost in the civil war is one of my favorite moments of TV ever

Re: The Random Twin Peaks Thread

But we can. I'm hereby declaring Twin Peaks' Season 2 as the best part of the TP universe - take that! :D Well, I mean, it's tough, right? Because even if you hate the "bad" season 2 stuff, the first 8 episodes and the finale are arguably the best part of (the original) Twin Peaks. Even i...

Re: The Random Twin Peaks Thread

For what it's worth, I actually prefer season 2 of both Westworld and Stranger Things. Not by much, and I recognize their faults, but I do slightly prefer them to their respective season 1s. well that makes you basic! No, actually I think you just like season 2 in general. Did you like Mighty Ducks...

Re: The Random Twin Peaks Thread

I've been watching Sharp Objects. Sadly, for me, it feels very basic. Well-made and performed, even elegant, but very little to distinguish it from the current model of Prestige TV. I felt this way - that so-called Prestige TV has plateaued and is in a static state - about a lot of TV in the build-...

Re: Twin Peaks VR game

This thread reminded me of one of my favorite pieces from S3: https://www.polygon.com/2017/7/11/15951948/twin-peaks-adventure-games-myst This took the words right out of my mouth at the time. I remember thinking that red room scenes must have been directly inspired by Myst when I watched my first TP...

Re: One year later - how are we feeling?

I am feeling that the Return has ruined the rest of TV and movies for me. I can't really watch anything else with sustained interest. Better Call Saul is a solid show and Ladder 49 has some mystique but I still get bored. Still prefer to rewatch random episodes of the Return with a glass of the chea...

Re: What's next? What chance do think there is we will see a season 4?

Regarding Carrie Page - I took his response to pertain strictly to the Carrie Page problem in the world of twin peaks, not an indication of whether he is ruminating new material. I can see how an optimist would very easily perceive the latter. I have a question for the group after reading all of thi...

Jade give two rides

The jade ring is, in effect, a "ride" to the black lodge.

Jade give two rides.

Anything in this? Someone else already bring this up?

Can't wait to hear how wrong and absurd and trite this observation is :)
