Re: Problem with Series 3 - Romance / Fantasy, versus absolute, objective storytelling (SPOILERS)
Yep. They're wrong. ;) But it's worth studying. I love romantic literature and miss the presence of romanticism in today's media. The original Twin Peaks had a romantic streak; the new one definitely doesn't. I've just briefly scanned the Wikipedia page on Romanticism. What l've been able to gather...

Re: Problem with Series 3 - Romance / Fantasy, versus absolute, objective storytelling (SPOILERS)
OK Sorry. Hint: i was talking primarily about romanticism of the inconsolable critic, seems premature at <25% into Ser. 3. Then l moved onto a thesis about romanticism in Ser 1, 2, and FWWM. In the OP l tackled the same basic concept several times over, approaching from diff. angles. Hope you can s...

Yes, I read it, StrangerDanger. If you explained it, it wasn't clear. You can't throw around terms such as 'romanticism,' 'objectivity ' and 'subjectivity' in an artistic context without being picked up on it. OK Sorry. Hint: i was talking primarily about romanticism of the inconsolable critic, see...

Re: Problem with Series 3 - Romance / Fantasy, versus absolute, objective storytelling (SPOILERS)
Hi there, it was more a speech contra the "Profoundly Derpy Support Group" thread that's now on its 15th page. I felt some inconsolable critics of Season 3 were being premature and perhaps the problem was their romanticism, which reduces to a monkey-demon eating Garmonbozia, which yeah we...

Re: Problem with Series 3 - Romance / Fantasy, versus absolute, objective storytelling (SPOILERS)
I'd argue against there being any shade of Romanticism in this series; Romanticism generally involves characters having volition, controlling the space in which they operate. In this series, everyone is victim of a big cruel world, awash in a sea of indifference. That couldn't be more naturalistic,...

Re: Missing Pieces - Ear-y audio
i'm sorry but i don't really understand the point. why sampling and reversing the audio of the hollering? it's pretty clear that it is there in all those scenes, what it means is up for debate but the audio doesn't hold any further mysteries to be unraveled. The other stuff is also profound, e.g. t...

Re: Windom Earle storyline- what was wrong, what was right
For me, TP rests on 5 key scenes: Laura's corpse Coop's dream Leland's death Windom Earle Coop enters Black Lodge, COOP escapes Black Lodge Everything about Windom Earle in the film was spot on. He's like a Simon Magus, l guess, but he's hated by Good and Evil alike. He's somebody you feel you could...

Re: Symbolism of the Evolution of the Arm
reducing the little man down to "the devil" is to me the least interesting way to possibly go. not everything weird and the color red has to be a metaphor for the christian devil and hell. Also mike said he was touched by the devilish one. so he was touched by his own arm lol? what about ...

Re: Symbolism of the Evolution of the Arm
However l feel you are forcing a square peg into a circular hole, playing a game of twister in order to avoid the self-evident truth that MFAP is evil, he is "The Devilish One". The only argument you've offered against this (in an earlier post) is a reference in the script of FWWM that MF...

Hi, thank you for the effort. I like the depth of your research into what the head might represent, and Lynch's other views. However l feel you are forcing a square peg into a circular hole, playing a game of twister in order to avoid the self-evident truth that MFAP is evil, he is "The Devilis...

Re: Doppelgangers
Leland 's doppelganger didn't kill anybody. FWWM basically confirms this, as does David Lynch ' dinner with the Palmer 's (more implied there). He killed Theresa foe trying to blackmail him. He killed Jacques for one or another reason leading back to himself. He killed Laura on his own as well, I b...

Wow that's a good one. What do you think it means, about the card, is that a Donnie Darko silhouette of an evil rabbit? Who is that crazy woman? Is the white powder on her table = drugs? The cards and the pin are somehow connected to the evil rabbit card. Possibly the image of the evil rabbit is co...

Re: FWWM Convience Store Scene in relation to Season 3 (SPOILERS)
I thought that the spirit in the jail with Hastings was supposed to be a callback to the lumberjacks in the convenience store. Specifically, Margaret Lanternman's husband. He's all black like he's been burned, and my reading of TSHOTP was that his spirit was trapped there after he died in the fire....

Re: The timeline of Laura's Angel within series 3
I'm confused by this too.
I like to think that Laura's angel appears right at the very end of all things Twin Peaks.
However, they say Laura's going to return physically to the town of Twin Peaks? Confusing.
Also, was Series 3 Laura or LAURA (doppelganger)?
