Re: Twin Peaks Season 3, Star Wars, JJ and Fan Service

And to be honest, I feel Lynch was lazy in this work. I think he can do better, I think it was too easy, and he has too many people that will say anything he does is brilliant. I don’t think he really explored anything he was setting up. I mean I think he worked really hard for sure, but if I were ...

Re: Twin Peaks Season 3, Star Wars, JJ and Fan Service

A new murder/new mystery format may have worked with Twin Peaks/quote] There was a new murder mystery, in the first episode of TPTR the decapitated head of a woman was found on top of the body of a much larger and older man. They kept that part of the formula (this time inspired by The Black Dahlia...

Re: Twin Peaks: From Z To A 12/10 & The Television Collection 10/15 Blu-Ray & DVD Sets

Out of curiosity could some of you guys who already got the Box set please let me know, how much you payed for it ? I ask because right now the price to pre-order it in germany is still 154 Euros (approximately 170 dollars) which in my opinion is ridiculous. 135 bucks or so. But the price has dropp...

Re: Peaks Fans Top 10 TV shows

I like ending at Part 5 because it's a meditative moment. Most of the endings to episodes are abrupt, so it just makes sense to give him some breathing room there with his statue. By the time we pick up next episode, day has turned to night, so it's a quite lengthy passing of time. It's also a sens...

...yest completely reviled by many in the fan base. By many I think we are talking about approximately 7 very, very loud people. I should have said by 'some in the fan base'. I honestly think it's extremely difficult to measure how the existing fan base felt about Season 3. My guess is that about 8...

Re: Peaks Fans Top 10 TV shows

It doesn't help that although I think 1/2 pair so well I hardly ever watch them separate, and no wonder it was shown at Cannes in this way, quite the opposite I find it baffling they combined 3 and 4 because there's nothing about that that makes sense to me at all. It leaves us with a long musical ...

Re: Peaks Fans Top 10 TV shows

There was a time when shows that I truly wanted to luxuriate in I would ration myself to one episode a day. I caught up on Lost after the first two seasons were complete, and I watched those two seasons at one episode a day. Same for Mad Men, which I caught up on after the first season ended. Even ...

Re: General Discussion on Season 3 (All Opinions Welcome)

On The Ringer's The Watch podcast, Sam Esmail once again guest-starred and they did their top ten shows of the decade. Sam Esmail chose Twin Peaks: The Return, stating it was the best by a mile, that it's the 2001: A Space Odyssey of this generation, and that he finds it galling that it's not being ...

Re: Mr. Robot Finale Thoughts (Spoilers)

I largely agree with Reindeer's take on all this, but I appreciate everyone's comments on this complex series. For me, the series is not exactly one of the greats. Stylistically, yes, it is one of the all time greats. And as you all have pointed out, the way that style can reflect and enhance the ch...

Re: Peaks Fans Top 10 TV shows

Thanks for reading and commenting, Reindeer, Axxon and Earle. Nice thoughts on Paranoia Agent! What has me completely flabbergasted when reading LateReg's lists (not just the top-ten one, but everything he mentions in the preceding paragraphs) is how on Earth one finds the time to watch all this stu...

Re: Twin Peaks Season 3, Star Wars, JJ and Fan Service

It's also worth pointing out that unlike the prequels, FWWM and The Return have co-writers. The parallels seem kind of a stretch. I have a hard time accepting FWWM as 'tone deaf' when victims of abuse have heavily related to it in a cathartic way, including my mother. And I wouldn't really classify...

Re: Peaks Fans Top 10 TV shows

Sorry in advance for the lengthy post! I've put off doing this because I knew I couldn't just post ten favorites, let alone decide on ten! I also had to really take some time to differentiate between "favorites" and what I consider "best," which have some overlap but are sometime...

Re: Twin Peaks Season 3, Star Wars, JJ and Fan Service

Ha, I thought this thread was the obvious Han and Leia and Cooper and Audrey spawned an evil son plot. So many similarities for both. I love Star Wars and Empire, and Return gets silly but still has the chemistry of its stars. I love TP’s first season and the setup of the second.... and then the en...

Re: Twin Peaks Season 3, Star Wars, JJ and Fan Service

Agreed. (For the sake of history, I’m typing this response during a commercial break of Mr. Robot, which may end up being the most subversive/brilliant/disastrous finale in TV history.) Interesting. I will be watching later. Also, for the record, few things ever are as subversive and simultaneously...
