Re: General Discussion on Season 3 (All Opinions Welcome)

I wonder if anybody has mentioned this. S3 has at least one Arthurian reference - Lancelot Court - and I believe another, correct? I was watching "Knightriders" the other day, a movie I'd never viewed despite being a Romero fan. (SPOILER) The movie's characters are inspired by the King Ar...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

I just reviewed the NDA I had to sign and there is no mention of talking about what is shown or not shown. Give me a break. These (at least mine) expire this Summer. I can confirm the props are all still in storage (info from last year). Good to know. What you mention and BGate points out makes sen...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

I don't even think those tweets were alluding to a bunch of hidden footage for a potential season 4 a la the rumors, but rather whatever cut footage there might be. Regardless of whether I believe the tweets, all they seem to be saying is that whatever leftover footage there is may be used in future...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

Wasn't one of the rumors that The Return would be coming to the big screen? Maybe even in a recut form? I never put stock in that but just for the sake of thinking about a Criterion release and Janus's involvement, it is plausible that some sort of theatrical release followed by Criterion release is...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

Looks like there was another Lynch and Twin Peaks related tweet on the 19th also from Janus. Interesting.

Re: Thoughts about The Return story arc

Excellent post, Nighthawk! Very clear and easy to understand, and it makes a lot of sense. I especially appreciated the way you describe the altered history, and the second example you give. I had always thought of that primarily as Lynch playing with TV tropes (last minute plot twists and revisioni...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

Not sure if this Oscar thread was moved or not, but since not much is happening I just wanted to chime in. I do think that politics has now more overtly invaded every walk of life, and that includes filmmaking, criticism and awards. But that doesn't mean that it's always a factor, whether positive o...

Re: Twin Peaks Season 3, Star Wars, JJ and Fan Service

And to be honest, I feel Lynch was lazy in this work. I think he can do better, I think it was too easy, and he has too many people that will say anything he does is brilliant. I don’t think he really explored anything he was setting up. I mean I think he worked really hard for sure, but if I were ...

Re: Twin Peaks Season 3, Star Wars, JJ and Fan Service

A new murder/new mystery format may have worked with Twin Peaks/quote] There was a new murder mystery, in the first episode of TPTR the decapitated head of a woman was found on top of the body of a much larger and older man. They kept that part of the formula (this time inspired by The Black Dahlia...

Re: Twin Peaks: From Z To A 12/10 & The Television Collection 10/15 Blu-Ray & DVD Sets

Out of curiosity could some of you guys who already got the Box set please let me know, how much you payed for it ? I ask because right now the price to pre-order it in germany is still 154 Euros (approximately 170 dollars) which in my opinion is ridiculous. 135 bucks or so. But the price has dropp...

Re: Peaks Fans Top 10 TV shows

I like ending at Part 5 because it's a meditative moment. Most of the endings to episodes are abrupt, so it just makes sense to give him some breathing room there with his statue. By the time we pick up next episode, day has turned to night, so it's a quite lengthy passing of time. It's also a sens...

...yest completely reviled by many in the fan base. By many I think we are talking about approximately 7 very, very loud people. I should have said by 'some in the fan base'. I honestly think it's extremely difficult to measure how the existing fan base felt about Season 3. My guess is that about 8...

Re: Peaks Fans Top 10 TV shows

It doesn't help that although I think 1/2 pair so well I hardly ever watch them separate, and no wonder it was shown at Cannes in this way, quite the opposite I find it baffling they combined 3 and 4 because there's nothing about that that makes sense to me at all. It leaves us with a long musical ...

Re: Peaks Fans Top 10 TV shows

There was a time when shows that I truly wanted to luxuriate in I would ration myself to one episode a day. I caught up on Lost after the first two seasons were complete, and I watched those two seasons at one episode a day. Same for Mad Men, which I caught up on after the first season ended. Even ...

Re: General Discussion on Season 3 (All Opinions Welcome)

On The Ringer's The Watch podcast, Sam Esmail once again guest-starred and they did their top ten shows of the decade. Sam Esmail chose Twin Peaks: The Return, stating it was the best by a mile, that it's the 2001: A Space Odyssey of this generation, and that he finds it galling that it's not being ...
