Re: Freddie's fight scene in part 17

Damned either way I guess, because I really enjoyed the discussions on the forum while The Return was airing, but also wish that I could have experienced the show in the same manner as the original. For example the whole bit about Richard Horne, which is really the fault of the creators for putting...

Re: Freddie's fight scene in part 17

Playing devil’s advocate: the fact that the scene is intended as subversion of expectation or commentary on the nature of storytelling isn’t in and of itself an ironclad defense. I think we could probably all name examples of high-concept films and TV shows that admirably tried to do something exper...

Re: Season 1 episode 7 script

That’s my guess too. Interesting that it ended being arguably three separate characters (Leland, Josie, and whoever that was in E2...although the argument could be made that it was Leland stalking Leo in E2, since Leo never acknowledges that he has anyone with him and might just think Bobby is tryi...

Re: Freddie's fight scene in part 17

I thought Nadine was a great character in S1. Like most of the comic relief in S1, her nagging angry persona was amusing without being over the top, and she had an underlying poignancy that climaxed in E7/E8 (and returned briefly in E29). I don’t think it’s fair to write off her nuanced S1 portrayal...

Re: Eraserhead *Lost* Footage

On the Room to Dream audiobook, DKL specifically says that “one half of the Eraserhead work print” is what ended up in a Virginia dump (and Eli Roth was helping him try to locate it!). This is intriguing. Does that mean the other half of the work print was not thrown out? Is that where the “cat” foo...

Re: Season 1 episode 7 script

Yeah, definitely not Leland. Or definitely not NOT Leland. I think given the nature of what they were planning with the show it was a means to be a possible good avenue to explore down the line on who it could be. It was a soap opera mystery and was going to be on all accounts even if they got past...

Re: Season 1 episode 7 script

Yep, most of episode two was the last filmed. Like all One Eyed Jacks set stuff was still being built while other episodes were filming. I’ll have to hunt down my schedule shooting lists, but I think a lot of the finale and episode two were overlapping to some degree. Fascinating! I either didn’t k...

Re: Freddie's fight scene in part 17

Despite not having warmed to the fight scene because of its failure to be scary, one cool thing I noticed in the last part. "Is it the story of the girl in the lane?". Doesn't Zabriskie tell the same story when meeting Laura Dern for tea in Inland Empire? I could be wrong, but if yes, tha...

Re: Season 1 episode 7 script

Here it is! Thanks for posting this. Random minor thing that jumped out at me: Tommy " The Hawk" Hill. The mysterious figure outside the Hayward house is kind of crazy to think about. I wonder if this figure was intended to be Leland, which might be a bit of a stretch, considering he just...

Re: Lynch to release memior 'Room To Dream: A Life In Art'.

And just his halves of the chapter, but they also seem longer than his written portions. Though that may just be a misperception. Just getting back to the audiobook after some life issues pulled me away from it for awhile. The chapters on his early life definitely seem longer and to contain even mo...

Re: Freddie's fight scene in part 17

I love how much of that scene seems significant from focus on a ring, to that, to the glowing orb the Giant sends in to Coop. Cooper’s ring is an interesting element. The backstory in MLMT is so close to what Laura goes through in FWWM that I have to assume either Lynch gave Scott Frost the idea du...

Re: Freddie's fight scene in part 17

Except we know from these discussions last year that Lynch actually prefers that low-budget look for some CGI and used it throughout S3. (Personally I thought it looked good) Just to be clear, I thought the actual animation by BUF looked great; I just dislike the same animation being reused over an...

Re: Freddie's fight scene in part 17

Are we referring to some other BOB? Frank Silva never exactly played it subtle. BOB was brute force, primal id and generally turned it up to eleven any time he appeared. All those shots of BOB inside the orb was just old footage of Frank doing Frank. It was not that manipulated. I loved it, but YMM...

Re: Freddie's fight scene in part 17

I know someone had speculated at one point that for Frost, the scene might have manifested from his frustrations working on the poorly-received (and very messy production-wise) mid-2000s Fantastic Four films. Interestingly enough, Mark has expressed affection for the first film, and for comic books ...
