Re: David Lynch & Jacques Rivette retrospective
Too bad about running late. Sounds like it was probably the same old print - certainly not terrible and better than the bootlegs out there. But that's a film that screens for a restoration - although I imagine it would be difficult with the mixed formats and the extreme length.

Re: David Lynch & Jacques Rivette retrospective
Awesome - thanks. If it is a restored print, please let me know of any new company logos or restoration credits. This definitely would have flown under the radar!

Re: David Lynch & Jacques Rivette retrospective
Oh man - keep me posted please! I haven't read your reviews yet but I very much look forward to, as I really don't see a lot of connections between the 2 filmmakers other than superficial ones (at best). Hoping to be enlightened!

Re: David Lynch & Jacques Rivette retrospective
Hey Lost - did you see L'amour fou yet? Was wondering if the print they have is the same battered print that's been playing in NYC for years - it had New Yorker Films logo at the head.
Re: swansong
I'm still hoping for Ronnie Rocket myself.

Re: Twin Peaks: The Missing Pieces - analysis/thoughts etc
I also want to jump in to say that the interview with Palmer family was extremely powerful and one of the better representations of filmmaking I have seen in awhile. And it's an interview for a Blu Ray extra!

Re: Twin Peaks: Season Three confirmed for 2016 on Showtime
Back in 1992 the majority of people thought Fire Walk With Me was completely wrong. They wished there was a way to retrieve the deleted scenes that featured more of the characters we love and edit them back in and edit out all the stuff that didn't matter to the "story" of Twin Peaks; Sher...

Re: Twin Peaks: Season Three confirmed for 2016 on Showtime
"But I hope that ABC cares and it motivates them and Lynch/Frost to finally clean up the mess of Season 2. Twin Peaks could be the best show in the history of television."
According to you. Someone else may think the second half of season 1 sucks and wants to edit that ou...

Re: Twin Peaks: Season Three confirmed for 2016 on Showtime
Risky for who? Why are people so concerned who new viewers feel about season 2? It sounds like you used to work for ABC. I've been showing pretty much everyone I cross paths with Twin Peaks for the past 2 decades. Some people go bananas for it; others could care less. I've never showed it to anyone ...

Re: Twin Peaks: Season Three confirmed for 2016 on Showtime
If you don't like that long stretch of the second season, why don't you just skip it and watch the "Previously on Twin Peaks" from Episode 25? It succinctly lays out all the major plot developments that happen during that period, narrated by Cooper talking to Diane. It is very well done an...

Re: Twin Peaks: Season Three confirmed for 2016 on Showtime
Yes, I can understand everyone having their preference of what should or shouldn't be in the second season. That's what keeps things interesting in conversation. However, in practice it's a whole other issue. I also find basing your own personal preferences on what you believe are the personal prefe...

Re: Twin Peaks: Season Three confirmed for 2016 on Showtime
Yeah, but that just goes along with me saying Lynch wasn't really built for TV. He's a man of mercurial and varied interests and the grueling schedule of network TV doesn't really jive with that. He is also a Hollywood player, despite a lot of people building him up as an incorruptible artist (I'm n...

Re: Twin Peaks: Season Three confirmed for 2016 on Showtime
Personally, I find the talk of reediting season 2 more cringeworthy than adding the "May The Giant Be With You" titles. I find all the second guessing of Lynch's creative thought processes in this vein to betray a lack of understanding about Lynch's work from the time period - 1988 to 1992...

Re: 'The Secret Lives of Twin Peaks' new novel by M. Frost 2
Personally, I wish the book would be written more like a scrap book of articles from the Twin Peaks Gazette pointing towards superficial exposition of the Town and characters (those we know and those we haven't met yet) over the past 25 years, leading up to where we are now with the new season. But ...

Re: Twin Peaks on Blu-Ray Official Discussion Thread - Spoil
For what it's worth, when I saw the film theatrically I distinctly heard the monkey say Judy. Lynch likes his soundtracks loud - you may need to turn it up! I also wanted to drop by and sing my praises for a very minor, but most welcome, addition. Not sure who was responsible for it, but I very much...
