Re: Twin Peaks: Season Three confirmed for 2016 on Showtime
Where can I find this chart, Jasper? http://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/aa453/JasperArmstrong/Twin_Peaks_Guide_main.jpg Here you are. It's very blunt, sorting episodes into three categories. Obviously there's quality variation within each category, but it's meant to reflect general views, and anyt...

Re: Twin Peaks: Season Three confirmed for 2016 on Showtime
It's funny, I had this same concern. Then again it seems like there's enough of a "support system" for it now with social media and all the writing out there about it (I think it was Jasper who also made that very helpful chart). Jasper's chart is an excellent one. I think everyone with a...

This was a real pleasure to watch, and the editing is fantastic.

Re: The Owl Cave Ring - thematic significance
The Vedas (…) are a large body of texts originating in ancient India. Composed in Vedic Sanskrit, the texts constitute the oldest layer of Sanskrit literature and the oldest scriptures of Hinduism. Hindus consider the Vedas to be apauruseya ("not of human agency"). They are supposed to ha...

Re: Favorite episodes (and directors) of Twin Peaks
Agreed about Ep. 14. The ending is spectacular but the whole thing is just superbly executed. I love the way Lynch brings pathos and style to even the least interesting subplots: Nadine and Bobby/Shelly/Leo have never been more compelling or atmospheric. When Lynch directs Nadine and Mike in the di...
Re: Animals
Yes, the Angriest Dog in the World is absolutely key if we're talking about Lynch and canines.
Speaking of dogs, Leland/BOB howls like a dog in his jail cell when he's captured, and otherwise behaves like a mad dog who's been caged. Fantastic performance by Ray Wise. He sells it and then some.

Re: Best Opening Credits ever?
Although it can't touch Twin Peaks' intro in any way, this remains one of my favourite introductions to a show ever. I knew i'd enjoy it before the first scene even happened. Also, like TP, i've never once skipped it when watching episodes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ouTCtwNIYaQ That intro was...

Re: The Owl Cave Ring - thematic significance
I finally made this graphic I've been meaning to create, showing how the Germanic Odal Rune could possibly relate to the Owl Cave symbol, and the Owl Cave Ring symbol. Notice the meaning of the rune. The earliest version of (or perhaps precursor to) the Odal rune that I've found is in the symbols of...

Re: The Owl Cave Ring - thematic significance
I find the inverted owl symbol to be evocative of a corncob. In the film the ring is always presented in the same way as after the petroglyph is rotated and not as it was originally found. https://38.media.tumblr.com/f635d06c357ca0de23a9122c2be275c7/tumblr_nbpaxsTW4A1qjfxppo1_500.jpg http://www.phi...

Re: Twin Peaks: Season Three confirmed for 2016 on Showtime
The Book will be released in Germany, too. That's great. But should I read the book, before Season 3 starts ? I think, i won't. I'm fairly certain that the purpose of the book is to provide a bridge between season two and season three on Showtime, hence the timing of the release. I wouldn't worry t...

Re: Twin Peaks novel by Mark Frost - late 2015
I very much welcome this news. I don't know what the book will or will not include/resolve. I don't think we should jump to conclusions. The fact is, regardless of how we feel about Twin Peaks in written form, 25 years HAVE PASSED, and we will never see those actors at their various ages over that t...

Re: Twin Peaks Cast on Donahue 1990
Yeah, this has been around a good while. Donahue is so creepy. Those types of shows are creepy in general (in a bad way). It's interesting that Mark Frost suggests we'll see part of Diane in the second season. My guess is that they played with the idea of showing closeups which weren't particularly ...

Re: Joan Chen Reflects on Twin Peaks
I actually think it was Lynch's idea for Josie to become trapped in the dresser drawer knob. I seem to recall someone, probably Mark Frost, recounting a phone conversation where David suddenly proposed the idea. As I understand it, Lynch wasn't around much at the time. Just some phone conversations ...
Re: Animals
The birds sing a pretty song. Cooper doesn't like birds. Some masks in the film have bird-like beaks, and the sound of the Jumping Man (in The Missing Pieces) could be construed as a horrifying bird-like squawk. The black dog runs at night. It seems BOB is the black dog. If you ask Fernanda, you mig...

I'm willing to eat some of my words, and I don't want to hijack the thread, but I've just found out my wife is pregnant with our first child so... all I can say is wow. I think I'll remember this time and perhaps give it a chance after all! My heart is fluttering today. Holy shit. Congratulations! ...
